Do the Huskers need some defensive talent?

Question for you kccbcandyman:

Do you teach tackling in Katy? If so, yes we need some defensive talent, per Chris Spielman.

At Katy we do not tackle ... we use nets and booby traps. That is more effective and safer for our defensive players. If the nets and traps are not working we bring out the baseball bats. Also saves us money in not having to rebuild the pads every
year

Seriously ... Katy year in and year out has the most effective and stingey defenses in the state. Coach Joseph is one of the
finest defensive tactictions you will find any where.

Power'T ... no offense taken. I like to post up here every now and then. A lot of good football folks on this board ... I'm just not as up to speed on all things "HUSKER" as most of ya'll are. Ya'll just need to get Coach Riley to give Katy Coach Joseph a social call

as it seems like the entire starting defense will be playing at the next level and I'd hate for the Huskers miss out on some good talent. The Husker Coaching staff has an open door here at Katy and they need to take advantage of it. It will be a long term investment. Another little known fact along with the message board is that Katy has a "selective breeding program" to insure we have high caliber football talent for decades to come ... we try to keep it quiet though.

But I think the word on the "selective breeding" has gotten out some how. I've noticed the Katy Athletic Dept. is now renting spaces for RVs in the field house parking lot and there are about six big class A coaches parked out there all the time. By looking at the decals on them, it appears like Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama. U.of Washington, Oregon and Baylor have set up permanent recruiting

offices so they won't miss anything.

Now that is ridiculous!

Now if you believe all that ... I've got some swamp land I've been trying to sell that we could get together and talk about

powerT... Having a high school football message board ain't ridiculous. It is a great thing to help build traditions ... just like the Huskers. Katy has a strong following, they travel well to support their boys in RED, the fans get there early and stay loud, they play in front of a full house, they play in RED, they run a ground pounding offense out of the "I" formation, they play to the whistle, they represent their school and community well ... and they win, and win, and win.

Gee ... kind of sounds like I was talking about the Nebraska Cornhuskers except on a smaller scale ... thought you would just love that. And the unis are almost identical too. remember that old song ... "I want to be like you ... Dad"

I didn't mean ridiculous in a bad way. More like a "that's crazy" kind of way. I would love to go see a game thats for sure. Texas high school ball is king in the states for that level.

Good Luck to the Katy football team this season!

Good to hear from you again!

I think the Huskers have some good defensive talent on campus now but you can never have enough. Definitely need to keep adding going forward.

Looks like we could have used to go after your RB Porter. Where's he looking?

We are very deep at DB but Wilder looks like he could be a good one. Rivals doesn't seem to have a lot for you for the 17 or 18 classes. Do you think Bethley will be the next big thing? We are definitely in need of DLinemen and DEs in particular. Probably our weakest spot on the team (overall) right now.
Hey Mavric ... how have you been doing?

About Kyle Porter ... Last I heard he has not made any committment but has been offered by Oregon and some others. Kid has speed to burn along with all the other skills needed at the next level. I would definately make a run at him ... I think he is open. He will be the work horse this year and will get a lot of attention real soon. You don't want to be one of those "Johnny come lately"

kind of programs. The way the Huskers approached Adam Taylor with the straight up ... no back door offer is how you get him.

Also find out if #5 on your roster is taken. Get him up there for a game with seats in the loud and rowdy section (well, that's the whole stadium). Maybe get him down on the field so he can chat with Adam ... you never know. This is important to these Katy players ... since they have been in grade school, they have been dreaming about being able to play in RED in front of a full house that looks like the Red Sea. Might sound silly to some ... but here it is real ... they really believe there is power in RED.

Mavric

Just got this from the Katy Tiger message board on #5 RB Kyle Porter. Has not made any committment, but has been getting offers from some of the "big guns". I'm sure the list will grow very fast after the season begins. He will be a good one. Get after him.

But wasn't this a defensive thread???

Kyle Porter- Offers from Baylor, Cal, Illinois, Arkansas, UH, Maryland,Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas
