I agree 100%Bottom line Thor, I think we both want the same things, we just have different ways of going about it. We're all a little pissed off today......................no hard feelings.
Don't think we are, but really think it's too early to pass judgment. I'm willing to give him at least this season and next to see how things play out. If it doesn't go well, then I may jump on the "fire Bo" bandwagon.I never said you did.Talk about putting words in someone's mouth?! I never said I don't support this coach, the issue has been risen in several different threads including this one that we aren't paying the money up front for a proven coach. We are paying for someone that we are willing to take a chance on hoping that it will work out. That's what I was talking about. Also, you saying you've been a "fan since 1969" implies just what you wanted it to. I should bow down to your greatness since you've been a fan since 1969 and because you've been a fan for so much longer than me, approximately 1992, somehow your opinion means more than mine. I believe that's the way you were trying to come across, but that's the internet for you. You should read the entire thread before you start picking out things here and there to comment on.So now we can't pay enough to get a better coach? Which is it, you want a better coach or are you sticking by this coach? Sounds like you're talking out both sides of your mouth. Then all I can say is that people should start lowering their expectations and hope that we get "lucky" with one of these coaches. Cause until we get the money together to pay Stoops, Meyer, Saban type of money we aren't going to get a proven commodity here and I know you know that.I doubt it.
Another thing is that you said "I must not have been here for the Callahan years". I just told you that I have been. You took it from there. I neve said I know more than anyone. I don't even post that much since folks like you enjoy putting words in others mouths.
I fully enjoy reading others comments and/or opinions. I even value some of the posters inputs. I use some of them when friends and I have our Husker conversations.
That was in response to your comment. I was only 9 then. You are right, about this being the internet and reading comprehension is huge. So please comprehend what you are reading.
I did read the whole thread. I can't help but feel sorry for you if you really believe we are going down the right path. That is all.
You're implying there are extenuating circumstances that should make us feel left embarrased about the team that is being fielded?Definately agree that he needs a proven DC and OC, not this on the job training coordinators. It would take alot of the load off his shoulders and free him up to be a better head coach. I think he'll learn, but we'll have to deal with alot of 8 or 9 win seasons until he figures it out if not less wins. I know there's a lot more going on behind the scenes that most of us don't know so I try to remember those things when the road gets tough.BRI,
It really boils down to one booster, as too how long this will fly. He was resposnible for getting Bo, paying the bill on Pedy and Clownahan. If he has had enough it could happen and happen quickly. But I do not think that is the situation. Still in Bo's corner the last time I spoke to him.
I am trying to be positive on this, as I know what would follow. I do not want another experiment. Bo is better than what the University would most likely spend money for.
I do not see Chris Peterson a Patterson coming to Nebraska. Those are the only two that I would want, Petrino could make us a winner again, but the worry and embarssment of him walking the sidelines at Nebraska would drive me away as a fan. More dislike for him than I had for Pelini. So we are stuck between a rock and hard place. We have to wait this out. I hope Bo starts to learn how to be a head coach. He is just in over his head. If he had qualified a OC and DC he would be better off. But that may be a money deal with Tom, which I think is the problem. HIre within, make it cheap. Puts a lot more on Bo to do while learning. He really is in a no win situation. Trying to learn a job that is one of the toughest in the world, be a CEO, face of the program, lead recruiter, man what a load on your plate, and then truly be the OC and DC on top of it is rough.
that might be all we need for a 'd' coordinator.I'm confused, is the consensus that John P is not really running the D but Pelini is? Or is it that John P is running the D without Pelini's help? I didn't really understand the John P promotion. He's supposedly a really likeable guy that can recruit his sock off, but I don't see the pedigree for D coordinator.
I'm implying that we have too many coaches learning how to do their job at a large university like Nebraska. I support Bo, just don't fully support his hires thus far, but I don't know who's telling him who he'll hire and who he won't.You're implying there are extenuating circumstances that should make us feel left embarrased about the team that is being fielded?Definately agree that he needs a proven DC and OC, not this on the job training coordinators. thats an excuse. Wisconsin cant recruit, Oregon was a no one until Chip arrived, Boise State still has no one, Kansas State doesnt have sh#t, OKlahoma State, Michigan State....... I can go on for a while. Hell Tom didnt have that many decent recruiting classes, but Tom knew how to COACH!I think it's the same problem Solich had and the majority of coaches have....inability to land enough big recruits. They do a fine job with ordinary players but I have news for you, they could coach me for a hundred years and it would never make me a top athlete.Bo is a really good defensive coordinator. Look what he did his first year as our coordinator under Solich. Look what he did at Oklahoma. Look what he did at LSU. All great jobs as coordinator. But look what happens when he has to choose a staff, run the team, oversee recruiting....it has not been pretty. I really like Bo a lot and I really want him to be successful. I am just not sure if we will ever be more than a 9-10 win team that always loses big/important games and always has that one game where we lose to someone we shouldn't lose to.
