Do we still like the Big 10?

Dude, the smug act is getting really old. Maybe we arent all as well educated as you when it comes to philosophy. But being a fan isnt measured in Football IQ.

These aren't my concepts...attacking them won't get under my skin...they're known concepts. Anyone who follows college football knows the stereotypes. Pretending that you know more than everyone else because you don't want to admit that there are stereotypes like this make you look uninformed and ignorant...stating what you said above adds smug to that description as well.

I agree with both of you. The perception of what they are called and what they really are, are different. Neither of you are wrong. I watched an "SEC speed" team in Alabama 2 years ago, just flat out, out physical one of, if not thee most physical team in the big10 in Michigan State when Cousin's was QB. 2011 if I remember right.

Michigan State was beat physically by the 2nd quarter. Someone go watch that game and tell me that the SEC is just built on "Speed" It is the premier of college football where they have it ALL. Size, Speed, Strength, and the best intangibles and measureables. No one else comes close. Especially not the big12, or big10.

There are only a handful of schools that can say they belong in the discussion. Starting with Clemson...because they've proven it twice in its last 6 games. After that its all just hypotheticals.

The comment was SEC is known for speed, not physicality. I said that was untrue

Maybe for the casual fan who doesnt understand the game, or only listens to/repeats sound bites instead of making their own legitimate opinion up

Not for anyone that actually watches real games and understands the game to even a very low level would think that

Maybe the 25 year old gal that sits behind me that played sorority flag football or the 12 year old kid next to her that plays Pop Warner. For those 2, its just pooled ignorance. But not a reasonable fan with average knowledge that actually watches games with an open mind. You dont have to understand all the details and know the difference between a 4i and 6 Tech to see how Physical most of the SEC teams are. To say they arent is just silly.

SEC is very physical, just ask Notre Dame, Nebraska and countless other teams that have been manhandled by their better teams

You dont succeed in the SEC without being very physical

Announcers and 'analysts"? Most of them are entertainers, they just get in the way IMO they are more concerned about the QBs girlfriend, mom, dad, sister and any sub drama plots than actually prviding real football knowledge or analysis. And when a few of them do delv into something techmical, they are wrong more times than they are right, many times to an embarassing level- sad but very true.

They dont know a jet sweep from an "end around" or "reverse" most of the talking heads show they know very little about the game

Unfortunately that is where most "fans" get their information

If you want to REALLY know more about the game, they would be near the bottom of the list to start learning, most of them are a joke.

You mean all those former college coaches and former players? Isn't that your criteria for being able to discuss football? Haha...you my friend are a piece of work.

The best recruits on Defense are fast and physical. The SEC gets the best recruits.

Now, seriously, please stop telling us you know more than the guys on tv. Maybe you should try out for tv. Or maybe you did and it was your attitude that landed you here telling us were stupid.

Kirk Herbstreit - Ohio State

Lou Holtz - Don't even need to list...

Mark May - Pittsburgh, 1st round draft pick, 12 years in the NFL

Jesse Palmer - Florida, 5 years in the NFL

Chris Spielman - Ohio State, 12 years in the NFL

Brent Musburger - perhaps the only one w/out playing time...but he's been in sports broadcasting for 40 years.

Lee Corso - Florida State, coached for 30 or so years.

Desmond Howard - Michigan, Heisman winner, 1st round pick, 11 years in the NFL

I could go on to Fox Sports and talk about that Eric Crouch guy that knows nothing....

...but you've been sitting in the stands since 1970 or whatever...so I'm sure you know more about football than all these guys who make their living at it.

Its a shame most people watching the game, dont know enough about it to know they are getting poor information.

Lots of the play by play guys and announcers have never played or coached a game in their lives.

To say something that is patently 100% wrong like "THE SEC is known for speed not physicallity" is silly- I guess if the people you are asking are 25 year old girl flag football players and 12 year old boys, not people that actually watch real games and have a minimal understanding of the game.

I can see why Bo gets frustrated with all the advice he gets from the uninformed fans or why Bill Callahan would say something in an interview like 'Thats too technical for you" LOL

haha, which play by play guys and announcers? Musburger with 40 years in sports? Maybe. All they do is call the play-by-play. The analysts provide the opinions we're talking about above.

Maybe you're talking about David Pollack who played for Georgia and the Bengels. Or Palmer who played for Florida, the Giants and 49ers. Or Griese, Bently and Gilmore who I mentioned above. Maybe Chis Spielman who played at Ohio State and for the Lions. Or Cunningham who played for Washington, the Cardinals and Seahawks. Or maybe Danny Kanell who played at Florida State. Or Matt Millen (Penn State/Raiders), or Brock Huard (Washington/Seahawks), or David Norrie (UCLA)?

Who exactly are you talking about? Because you're entirely wrong.

Any chance we could just have a thread for a certain A$$ to spew his crap, Then we would not have to listen to it in every post. I will no longer follow football, been doing so for 55 years, as I am not worthy, being such and idiot and low life. I would prefer that this certain person only talked to those qualified to hear his/her responses.

I played college football...and I still don't understand the game. Those announcers though...millions of dollars...hot babes....fame...

Yeah...them guys don't know nothing about nothing.
