Good for Doc! This seems like a pretty sweet gig:

Ex-Nebraska coach Doc Sadler expected to join Self’s KU staff
Former University of Nebraska basketball coach Doc Sadler is expected to soon be named director of basketball operations at Kansas University.

Sources told the Journal-World on Tuesday that Sadler, who has been on campus this week to interview with KU coach Bill Self, has been offered the job. It’s believed he has accepted or will accept and replace Barry Hinson as KU’s director of basketball operations.

Sadler, 52, is a long-time friend of KU coach Self.

that’s kind of a surprise. That is usually a position Self and the jayhawks save for a top recruits dad... ^_^

Good for Doc, always liked him. And he is able to land a job with his buddy.

Good for Doc. Allows him to remain active in the coaching fraternity and visible as a potential candidate as other jobs open in the next few years.

Also it's good for us as I would expect whatever salary he pulls down from the Jayhawks is subtracted from our obligation. So in a sense, Bill Self has just made a generous donation to the athletic department. Thanks Bill!

Great for Doc! I think a lot of NU fans like Doc. I know I do. Just not as our head coach.
I actually wanted to see Doc take a similar position within our own AD. Perhaps after he sees how Kansas runs their ship, we could bring him back in a few years...

Well at least he wont be recruiting for them.. Anyway glad to see Doc getting a new start at KU

Turns out Doc hasn't accepted this job yet. He's keeping his options open for TV and other coaching gigs. Expect a decision in July.

Source - various tweets.

To be fair, as much as I can't stand the guy, Barfy did report this on the OWH website around the time the story broke, that a decision by Doc likely wouldn't come until July. Thanks for the update, knapp, had been wondering if he had reached a decision on the job yet.

Probably just a cheap ploy by Self(ish) so that we can keep paying Doc and he doesn't have to yet...... :lame
