Does Callahan really care about or has he ever care about NU football

I think seeing the highlights of the Texas A&M vs Nebraska game and watching Callahan and Cosgrove yelling whatever at a Husker player, was the nail in the coffin. They looked like 2 guys knowing they're going to lose their jobs.

In all honesty I don't believe Callahan cared much more about NU football other than the fact it was a job. If Callahan believed in Nebraska Football, the players would believe in him. It all shows in the way the team plays the game.
Do you think that Callahan was yelling? Well, just wait until Pellini gets here. You'll see some yelling like you've never seen before.

LOL
Will Pelini yell if he gets the chance to be HC... YES! So will any other person named HC. It is needed in certain situations and no one would question it here, except with everything that has happened it is clear that his yelling now doesn't do anything to "help" these kids.

If you like Callahan and think he is a great coach then just follow him to where he goes next and make your allegiances there!

Callahan is a great coach only in his mind!! This is a job for him he collects a paycheck an moves on.. He is done, given up..

I agree. I think that when he came here he thought he could do something very special. We all bought in to it too! We were patient (well most of us) and thought we were on our way. But as time went on, we saw that the WCO is simply not a good fit for our program. I think bringing it here and pouring it on these players without any kind of transition was a mistake. Had he taken what we were playing and slowly introduced the WCO it might've worked but he didn't and now he's having to backpedal.

The unfortunate thing, and the reason why this 'He doesn't care' is so silly is because he has a family. They all do. They uprooted their families and came here hoping to make a difference. Are we really so arrogant to think that he doesn't care just because the team isn't winning? I feel sorry for his wife and children. They will have to endure yet another move...yet another uprooting of their family.

However, I do think that the noble thing to do would be to resign. That way he could at least leave town having admitted his mistake while allowing our program to press on.

Just my .02 worth

These threads saying he doesn't care/didn't care are just silly.

Yes. He cares. He did care. He took the job thinking he could do well in it--and we were all behind him, hoping he would/could do it. We were all excited about hearing of the top 10 recruiting classes.

He's in over his head--and is probably very disappointed. But he also doesn't want to give up, in all likelihood.

I feel like Obewan shouting at Annakin at the end of the movie....

"Billy...you were the chosen one! You were supposed to bring NU back to national prominence! You were so promising! We all believed in you! Why!!!????? Oh Why!!!?????"

It's a damn crying shame...but that's just what happened. It didn't work out. He probably feels like he's been villianized. He wants to get the money that was due him in the contract. He also wants a chance to show that he can still win with his system in the hope that he can get a new job.

He doesn't give a rat's a$$, possibly because this is the worst dump in the world for a college coach to end up at . . . at least, in terms of surviving the mobs. Too many fans with no real lives outside of Husker football.

Nothing short of a national championship will make these fans happy, and that will be practically impossible to come by, given the state of the program. NU fans won't wait 20+ years anymore for a coach to get around to it (as in Osborn's case). In other words, it's a coaching nightmare here now.

No, I think most fans would actually consider players playing with some EMOTION being happy. We waited 20+ years because we believed. We saw a coach get better and better each year. We didn't see a program gravitate to mediocrity. We saw players willing to walk through fire for their coach. WE don't see that now. We see players down on themselves and down on the team!

I for one hope he yells at the top of his lungs when players are f**king up. When someone makes a mistake, you don't pat them on the back. You get in their face and let them know you care when they f**k up and don't want to see it again. NU isn't supposed to be a politically correct place to play football. Mistakes are frowned upon. They aren't rewarded!
