I don't think it is fair to blame those misses on his desire to coach an extra month. It was much more a result of just the general late start. If he would have come up to Lincoln a month earlier and left UCF, that class would have looked exactly the same. Yes, it was a cobbled together class, but that was just a result of a late start coaching change. He needed a year or two to get his foot in the door with his recruits, not 2-3 months.I used to be mad at what looked like a lack of progress under year 2 of Duval's S & C program. But once I realized that the culture was bad due to Frost and staff not carefully evaluating the players they brought onto Nebraska when they first got here due to making UCF perfect that year I'm not as mad now. That in addition to the fact that our team was young as hell last season. I still trust and believe in Duval and this staff to get us where we need to be.
That being the first early signing period also did not help. Most recruits signed only a few weeks after Frost was hired.I don't think it is fair to blame those misses on his desire to coach an extra month. Although I disagree with the part where you said" If he would have come up to Lincoln a month earlier and left UCF, that class would have looked exactly the same." because Frost literally kicked off over half his first year roster due to more careful evaluation now, I do agree that the late start obviously hurt on top of already taking an extra month to coach UCF to perfection. He just kind of played that part a little incorrectly and now he understands why most coaches leave immediately when they realize they've gotten a new job to coach somewhere else. But that doesn't mean Frost is not a great coach. It was just a sign of a little inexperience in addition to the early sign date working against him as well.I don't think it is fair to blame those misses on his desire to coach an extra month. After the last however many years of Nebraska football, I refuse to buy in to S&C hype. Every year its the same story of the players being bigger, stronger, faster. And then add in the current staff trashing the last staff's S&C while getting similar (or worse) results on the field.
We haven't heard of any players being in the best shape of their lives yet so the S&C hype train hasn't even left the station yet. After the last however many years of Nebraska football, I refuse to buy in to S&C hype. Can someone make a Bart Simpson writing on the chalkboard meme saying "I will not buy in to S&C hype"?
