Dylan Raiola

Worst P4 QB yesterday. Hopefully he learns from it and puts it in the rearview mirror

Ooof. And Nico against PSU. Hoping we don't see that version of him. And wasn't MSU like 117 against the pass? Dana really needs to work on Dylan throwing it away to not take the sack. I'd like to say scramble more, but he looks like a he's running in mud up to his waist when he attempts to take off. And develop a running game without benefit of a dual threat QB or elite RB. And realize the wind will always be an issue each season....

Gotta mention this after getting home from Nebraska this morning. I heard this on @SiriusXMCollege with my friends @ESPNDari & @RoyPhilpott the @HuskerFootball fan was concerned about @RaiolaDylan “still holding the ball too long” and honestly I heard it before that from many before the game. Hey Huskers fans when your O-line is having issues blocking edge rushers Holgorsen’s gotta commit more guys in protection and that means fewer options to throw the ball to, hence it takes a while for just two guys to get open! 🤷‍♂️It happens. @devingardnerXCI hilited that very thing in our opening segment of the game. I’m sure Dana, and @CoachMattRhule are happy seeing the 2nd half adjustments pay off in the 4th quarter. Special Teams played a vital role in that win as well. Enjoy being 4-1, and a couple of huge road games are ahead and if ya get those W’s and Nebraska’s foundation is created again!

The PFF grades are a black box and have actually gotten worse IMO, it's difficult to accurately assign blame when you're not plugged into the team. Michigan guys were complaining because PFF showed one of their DBs allowed 2 completions on 2 attempts against us for 78 yards and 2 TDs (both Barney TDs), and they were 100% confident that he was responsible for neither.

And then some of it is just the challenges inherent in trying to boil down complicated decisions and plays into a single number. QBR in particular seems to weigh QB runs too heavily. And they can't really decide what they're measuring, process or outcome. It's supposed to be process - turnover worthy plays versus actual fumbles/INTs, grading bad/missed blocks even if they play succeeded, etc. But at the same time I imagine Chiles got a perfect or near perfect grade on the scramble touchdown, and I would argue scrambling 12 yards deep on a 4th and 4 is a bad decision. He made it work, but if McCullough is able to keep his feet or Shavers recognizes contain has been lost earlier that's probably a failed 4th down when they had 2 receivers open.

it's wild our fans are demanding his uncle to be fired when dylan is likely going to lead us to our best season in a decade.
Is it really that wild? Seeing how we've been one of the worst P5 teams over the past decade, not a very high bar we're clearing if the bare minimum is 'our best season in 10 years'. The only wild thing I would say about the o line and this team is how well our team has been able to compensate for a complete train wreck of o line play.

Would love to be a fly on the wall at the next raiola family dinner. Starting to see frustrations pop up on the field from Dylan towards the line play. I fear one of these games he's gonna get banged up to the point where his play is severely impacted due to all of these hits he's hitting.

lol and Dayton to follow.
Luckily for us, Dayton isn't any where near the stature of QB Dylan was at the same age. Hopefully we wont be held hostage and required to keep one of the worst o line coaches in college football simply to keep a qb here.

I don't know where these numbers are coming from, but Raiola was MUCH better than a bunch of the guys ahead of him. UNC, Wisky, and CU QBs were awful. Anyone actually think Aidan Chiles was that good compared to Raiola? This is laughable.
I would take it with a grain of salt. Per ESPNs definition, they plug in a bunch of inputs- some of which are avoiding sacks, penalities, 3rd down conversions, and random situational inputs. Something tells me starting at the opponent's 25 yard line and finishing the drive at 4th and 42 on 3 sacks and a penalty brought DR's score down tremendously. I read somewhere that between the 2nd and 3rd quarter we put up 19 yards across 25 plays. Wooooooof
