Chiles was purely awful throwing the ball Saturday. He had a couple good runs but that’s about all he did. NU was lucky the backup didn’t play the whole game. Would have been much tougher

The only wild thing I would say about the o line and this team is how well our team has been able to compensate for a complete train wreck of o line play.

Would love to be a fly on the wall at the next raiola family dinner. Starting to see frustrations pop up on the field from Dylan towards the line play. I fear one of these games he's gonna get banged up to the point where his play is severely impacted due to all of these hits he's hitting.


Luckily for us, Dayton isn't any where near the stature of QB Dylan was at the same age. Hopefully we wont be held hostage and required to keep one of the worst o line coaches in college football simply to keep a qb here.

yes. it's wild to attack the uncle of our 5 star QB, borderline heisman candidate, and likely future 1st round pick. have you forgotten who our previous QBs were? cubby purdy, harberg, sims....

Thank you they did some good homework. Technically that should be enough time if the plays are designed for it. 4 seconds or more to make a decision and get rid of the ball is asking for trouble when QBs are not anticipating a 3-second clock, which is about normal.

I like Dylan a lot and I think he is going to be even better next year by applying lessons learned from this season and making adjustments to his game.

I keep in mind that he is only a true sophomore QB.

He continues to get the ball out much faster when he has good protection than when he's pressured.

That still seems backwards to me. But it seems like the main reason is they play some different type of coverage and take away our quick looks so he has to go to secondary options (or those happen to be plays that don't have quick options).

So it seems fair to put some of the blame on scheme/playcalling that a lot of people are trying to blame the OL for.

I don't remember where I heard it but I think it was some guys who cover football but not Nebraska specifically said they notice that once Dylan takes his first sack he acts differently under pressure. I know some QBs start seeing ghosts after they have been hit a bunch but I don't know that I've noticed that. Its easy to criticize when you can see the whole field by watching from the stands or tv when he doesn't see a guy open. Like the INT he didn't see the guy and thought he would follow the underneath guy, wasn't a great throw but he also had probably part of the OL blocking his view. Same with late in the game when he was trying to scramble missed Barney in the back of the endzone but he was moving the opposite direction and probably couldn't see him. For the most part Dylan makes good decision with his throws and I know people sometime want him to let it rip but I'll take the safe play over a forced throw when we don't need it. For as bad as it seemed he played he still completed like 66% of his passes I think. That's a really good game for some of the Qbs we've had over the years. Anyway one more game under their belts and another week to get better
 
Among QBs who have thrown at least 100 passes this year (112 total), Raiola ranks (per PFF):
  • #102 in average depth of target
  • #5 in completion percentage
  • #36 in yards per attempt
  • #43 in average time to throw
  • #83 in big time throws
  • #59 in most pressures faced (lower ranking is facing more pressure)
  • t-#73 in interceptions
  • #3 in pressure to sack rate (bad)
  • #8 in sack percentage (bad)
  • #13 in QB Rating (NFL)
  • t-#57 in turnover worthy play rate
We know his completion percentage is good - helped by a short average depth of target - but a respectable yards per attempt giving the lack of deep shots. Average to above average in facing pressure and average time to throw, which is a pretty good indicator that the claims of how bad our line is are overblown. Not quite as bad in turnover-worthy plays as I was expecting. And takes a lot of sacks.

So not much really new (other than maybe some defense of the OL), but it's interesting to see what the numbers say.

Borderline heisman candidate 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, common man, don’t throw the credibiity out the window before you finish your first sentence.

He’s great, love him and what the future holds, best passing qb we’ll prolly ever have but let’s be real- he holds the ball too long, he hasn’t figured out how to handle pressure, while his passing % was solid it was largely propped up against meh competition and dink and dunks down the field, his red zone numbers are pitiful against p5 competition. Quit acting like the guy walks on water.

I’m not a fan of the Nebraska raiola’s, I’m a fan of the Nebraska Huskers. I’d love to be in a world where we can have a 5 star qb and simply a serviceable OL coach.

Just checked 3 different odds makers and Dylan is anywhere from the 34th highest to 65th on the heisman odds list after this past weekend. 🤣🤣🤣

I think most sane fans are blaming the OL for crappy pass protection and a non existent run game. If we could run the ball and push around the opposing d line that’s one thing- we are clearly subpar in both pass protection and run blocking

Michigan st entered our matchups with one of the worst passing defenses in p4 and still rank above 100 in many categories in FBS. Cincinnati also does not stack up well in many defensive passing categories and are winning games from stellar qb play vs. anything the defense is doing.

Our schedule is stacking up to be a dream schedule, hope we can capitalize
