Early Signing Period for Football?

I would be perfectly OK with an early signee to be able to get out of his commitment if his HC is no longer with the program and it's still before the February NSD. Meaning, if you sign in August and your coach gets fired in December, you now are no longer legally tied to that school and are free to sign with another school.

I would even be willing to go as far as saying the school is still legally bound but the recruit isn't.

That's kind of my thinking as well. But I've never seen it brought up.

AFCA executive director Todd Berry said FBS coaches are "collectively not in favor of adjusting the official visitor calendar." Proposed reform would allow for recruits to take official visits in June and July before the start of their senior season.
