ESPN and Lou Holtz

I liked how Lou and Mark May decided to really not comment on the game at half time, instead they decided to go with the OMG THIS ISN'T REALLY NU MU LOLZ!..
Awful. Enjoy your crow you bastards.
I noticed that also....How does that crow taste May you POS. You too Holtz you senile ole bastard! :box

No doubt man! ESPN needs to fire that guy. I'm tired of having to hire an interpreter just to understand what the hell he is saying!! :bang :dumdum

Interesting thing to think about... Rece Davis, or whoever else was commentating with Holtz and May, said to Holtz after his little rant. "wow, that sounds like something personal." Holtz laughed and denied it, but come on. We all know that these guys who are gonna be working together talk and I am sure that college football is their main topic, and as we all know, Holtz LOVES to talk about his coaching days and give his opinions. That leaves me to believe that Holtz either dislikes Callahan or Pederson, or was good friends with Solich and that there is something personal in his ribbing, and Davis knew it, and was trying to steer him away from it. I am sure that ESPN would like to maintain SOME semblance of objectivity, because those kinds of rants alienate viewers. Just something to think about. Does anyone know of any connection that Holtz may have to Frank or Cally, or Pederson.

Who knows? Maybe there is something about Wisconsin that Lou doesn't like. A lot of our staff has been through that coaching pipeline at one time or another.

Or maybe he is just jealous because Coach Callahan is making it happen in his second season when Lou couldn't get it going at SC.

And to think, one time I actually supported what Lou was trying to achieve at SC. I have more respect for Spurrier than I ever will for Holtz.

It's times like these I wish Trev was still there; he'd reach over and knock that clown out of his seat. :box

yep, i doubt either would have the balls to say what they did with old Trev sitting there.......at least he would have made them both look foolish at game's end....but wait, they did it by themselves, without Trev's help! these guys are truly versatile!

i think Trev would have picked against us too frankly. but i thought we would lose too so i don't mean to bash him by saying that.

to referense what i said earlier, at the very least i think Trev would have at leat put a little bit of the "Why Nebraska Won" in there amidst all the "Why Michigan Lost" BS.

even though Trev was a husker he still had to use his head in making predictions and not his heart.

He picked Florida to beat NU along with everyone else, but he thought it was going to be a close game with FLA pulling it out at the last minute.

But he was the first to admit he was way wrong also.

But he was the first to admit he was way wrong also
to be fair, Lee Corse beat up a blowup ref immediately following the game so he may have been the first to admit being wrong in that game.

ah, the good ol' days after the Fiesta Bowl: when "experts" actually ate the crow instead of making excuses for why they shouldn't have to chow down.

I live in South Carolina ... NOBODY around here misses that retard. After having to put up with Holtz ... people were so numb that having Spurrier didn't seem all that bad.

I caught a couple of minutes of them last nite during the Holiday Bowl. It sounded like maybe someone had cautioned them on their comments. Both made somewhat positive statements about BC and the movement of the program. Quite a different tilt than the day before.

Either way, I just listen to them and laugh. I thought Trico and Herbstreet were the cheerleaders for Michigan during the game. Very little brought up about BC and any of the players. Volumes on Michigan. I thin they expected a rout and did their home work with the percieved winner.

I thought Tirico and KH did a great job announcing, but, as i said before, there was little on Nebraska other than the dehydration "story" and the injured LBs begging for attention for Nebraska. So while i disagree about Tirico and KH, and definately agree with you that the coverage was "Volumes on Michigan". but what should we expect?

It sounded like maybe someone had cautioned them on their comments.
exactly! It looked like they were almost forced to finally give Nebraska some props for WINNING the game.

Neither had the guts to admit they were dead wrong in their predictions though. but again, what should we expect?

Herbstreit cant stand the Huskers I listen to his show Sports radio here in Suckeye Hell and he has always had it out for Big Red as long as I can remember. He is just jealous that Ohio State doesnt even compare to NU as far as traditions and titles go, Same as Speilman that tool.

Tirico on the other hand went to Syracuse. Nuff Said.

On a side note did anyone think coach carr was gonna blow a vessel when he was being molested by the Sun Belt officials? Priceless.

Honestly, I personally didn't think the announcers did a bad job during the game. It's true that UM had more calls go against them than for them. In any game, when a call is blown its always magnified by the announcers. I appreciated what KH said first about how impatient people had been with BC and comparing him to Charlie Weis was unfair because Weis inherited a team with the players needed to run the system. He also mentioned at the end that the calls weren't what sunk UM, they didn't do what they needed to do to protect an 11 pt. lead.

As for all the ESPN stuff, its always fun to see people who didn't give us a chance be confronted with reality, but who cares if they publicly state it or not. Anyone who enjoys college football watched that game simply because of who was playing in it, and I'd pretty much guarantee that any recruits interested in either team were watchin it too. We all know what happened, even the likes of May and Holtz saw NU win and if that's enough to cause them to scramble to make excuses for UM then that's enough for me.

I can just see them getting all gleeful when UM went up by 11, thinking all they'd have to say was that UM wasn't really interested until the 4th quarter and then they put us away.....and then Cory Ross happened.
