The Picker, a guy who predicts games in the Tulsa World, calls Stoops "Mid Game Bob" now. He was big game Bob when he won the nat'l championship and his 1st few big games. He won the NC with JOHN BLAKE's :ahhhhhhhh players - the same John Blake that was at NU for a season or two and then got into recruiting problems at UNC. Blake could recruit but he couldn't coach at the HC level. So Stoops has settled into the 'comfy' zone. OU fans at work complain about him like we complain about Bo - both were D guys but the O excels while the D gets blownout - ie T&M blew out OU in the bowl game - Go figure :dunno

 
Today feels like an appropriate day to mention one of Stoops's greatest talents, getting pay raises from Oklahoma by interviewing with Notre Dame.

This is my problem with putting Saban so high on the list despite his 4 Nattys. Saban fully admitted that he couldn't win at MSU because he couldn't find a way to recruit at the level he wanted, so he jumps ship to a recruiting hotbed LSU. Then because he won at LSU, he figures he can coach anywhere and gets subpar results coaching the Dolphins. So he goes back to college football. Not just anywhere, but a heritage and recruiting rich school to help ensure he'll win.

No way he ever would've/could've accomplished at NU what Devaney or Osborne did. He wouldn't have had the patience or recruiting prowess to do so.

With all that stated, he IS probably one of the best game day/seasonal managers.
