ESPN: Which B1G Needs a Bowl Win the Most?

Austin Ward: Nebraska Cornhuskers

There is no denying that Mike Riley took a significant step forward with his program during his second season, but the closing stretch and the faceplants in a couple of the most important games have taken a bit of the shine off Nebraska. After such an encouraging start, with seven straight wins to open the year, and even after impressing in an overtime loss at Wisconsin, there was plenty for the Huskers to feel good about -- but that might be overshadowed by the 62-3 beatdown by Ohio State and a humbling 30-point loss to Iowa to close the regular season. The Huskers are still in position for a 10-win season and have a shot to beat a ranked opponent in Tennessee to get there, which should provide some motivation for Riley’s club. But given the way this year played out for Nebraska, it could surely use the victory as validation of the progress.

Beating Tenn in Nashville would be huge. Tenn has 2 straight blowout wins over B1G in bowls.

I'd like to see us continue our streak against Tenn - TO's last game and the 2000 Fiesta Bowl (we should have/could have been NC that year except for the fumble at texas - may have secure Frank for a few more years)

Sure we need a bowl win. Who doesn't? But do we need it most of anyone in the B1G? It seems like a team like Indiana would benefit more from a bowl win than us. I mean, they don't go bowling very often (although they did make a bowl last year). And they'll have a new coach. A bowl win would give a Hoosiers a jump start going into the home stretch of recruiting season.

For all the fans that love to bring up HCMR's .500 career coaching record, (actually .545 in college football) here's a stat for you:

He is 7-2 in bowl games. (.778)

I think he'll have this team ready.

I don't think motivation would be much of a problem. If any of these guys are trying to get drafted that should be enough motivation to show up and try to play well. If any of them have read what fans have said about their effort against Iowa that should be motivation to show up and play well. They are playing against SEC elite players which eveyone knows even the bottom tier athletes in the SEC are better than the BIG.. I would want to show up and play

If people want to say the B1G is the best conference then the majority of teams playing an SEC team need to win. Huskers need this win. To make the jump to the top tier teams in the league you need to win.

This! We need to beat SEC teams.

Unfortunately we only have 2 games against the SEC unless OSU makes it to the title game against Bama. Iowa vs. Florida in Florida and NE vs. Tenn in Nashville.
