Jose Mourinho Gets 2 Match Ban For Eye-Poking Incident

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has been handed a 2 match ban from the Spanish football federation (RFEF) for eye-poking Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova.

Mourinho was caught on camera poking Vilanova in the eye during Real Madrid's 3-2 defeat in the second leg of the Spanish Supercopa in August.

The punishment will see Mourinho banned for 2 Supercopa games along with a $600 fine.

 
Inter's Claudio Ranieri Receives 1 Match Ban

Italian football's governing body, Lega Serie A, has announced that head coach Claudio Ranieri has been handed a 1 match ban for insulting the referee at halftime, while midfielder Joel Obi was served a 1 match ban for his sending off in the first half.

Inter was also fined $8,000 for the behavior of their fans during the game, while Javier Zanetti, as the club's captain, was fined $1,500 for the events that took place at the Giuseppe Meazza. Finally, both Diego Milito and Ivan Cordoba were handed $10,000 fines for their comments toward the official after the final whistle.

 
Barcelona's Ibrahim Afellay Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery

Barcelona has announced Ibrahim Afellay has successfully undergone knee surgery. The Netherlands international underwent surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, which was torn in a practice session last month. The recovery time is estimated at 6 months.
