Liverpool Sign Andy Carroll From Newcastle

Liverpool have confirmed Newcastle United have accepted a club record offer (reported to be $35 million) for the transfer of English striker Andy Carroll. Liverpool have been given permission by Newcastle to discuss personal terms with the player, who has also handed in a transfer request, and the striker is scheduled to undergo a medical as soon as he arrives at Liverpool.

It looks like Liverpool are preparing for life without Fernando Torres. They have now signed 2 strikers.

Andres Iniesta Out Of Almeria Copa Del Rey Tie After Sustaining Shoulder Injury

Andres Iniesta has been ruled out of Barcelona's Copa del Rey clash with Almeria on Wednesday after sustaining a shoulder injury during Saturday’s 3-0 win over Hercules. The exact period of recuperation isn't known, but Iniesta remains confident that he will be back in full training before the end of the week.

A statement on Liverpool's official website reads: "Liverpool Football Club tonight confirmed they have agreed a fee with Chelsea for the sale of Fernando Torres. The player has now been given permission to speak to the London club."

OFFICIAL: Liverpool Complete Deal For Luis Suarez

A statement on Liverpool's official website reads: "Luis Suarez has today completed his transfer from Ajax to Liverpool FC and signed a 5 and a half-year-deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2016. The club agreed a fee of up to 26.5 million Euros with Ajax for the transfer of the Uruguayan international on Friday. The deal was subject to the completion of a medical, which the player has now passed. Luis Suarez will wear the No.7 shirt for Liverpool."

OFFICIAL: Chelsea Sign Fernando Torres For $58.5 Million

A statement on Torres' official website said: "Spain international Fernando Torres will defend the Blue shirt of Chelsea after joining the London club on the January transfer deadline. The striker has signed for the reigning Premier League and FA Cup champions for five and a half seasons. After Liverpool and Chelsea had reached an agreement, the player traveled down to London where he successfully passed his medical before agreeing personal terms. Fernando Torres then put pen to paper on a deal that will see the forward remain at Chelsea until June 2016."

Speaking at Stamford Bridge after finalizing the move, Torres said: "I am very happy with my transfer to Chelsea and I am looking forward very much to helping my new teammates this season and for many years to come. Having played against Chelsea many times since coming to England, and in some very big games I will never forget, I know there are many great players here and I will work hard to win a place in the team. I hope I can score some important goals for the supporters to enjoy this season."

 
OFFICIAL: Chelsea Sign David Luiz From Benfica For $25 Million

The board of directors at Benfica confirmed to the Portuguese stock market that the Brazilian defender moves to Stamford Bridge in a deal worth $25 million.

Their statement read: "Sport Lisboa e Benfica Futebol S.A.D., in compliance with Article 248 of the Code of Securities, reports that it has reached an agreement with Chelsea Football Club Ltd. of the Premier League for the definitive sale of the sporting and economic rights of the athlete David Luiz Moreira Marinho for an amount of €25,000,000.00 (twenty five million euros)."

The deal will also send Chelsea’s young midfielder Nemanja Matic to Benfica.
