Petr Cech Out 1 Month With Knee Injury

Chelsea keeper Petr Cech has been ruled out of action for at least a month after injuring his medial knee ligament in training, Andre Villas-Boas told reporters on Thursday.

"He fell awkwardly with weight on top of him, and he stretched a little bit a medial knee ligament. We expected much worse when we saw the incident. The good news is that it is just for three to four weeks."

Porto Confirms Atletico Madrid's Offer For Falcao

Porto has revealed they have received an official offer from Atletico Madrid for striker Radamel Falcao. Atletico has been in the market for a striker ever since the departure of Sergio Aguero to Manchester City and they have pinpointed Falcao as the perfect replacement. The Colombian signed a new deal with Porto last month that expires in 2015, but has a limited release clause of $45 million.

Falcao joins Atletico in a deal worth $40 million, with the fee capable of rising to as much as $47 million depending upon performance-based incentives. Falcao's transfer fee falls $5 million short of his release clause, but the inclusion of Ruben Micael (who was sold for $5 million) in the deal leaves both clubs happy with the outcome.

A statement on Atletico's official website reads: "Atletico Madrid and Porto have reached an agreement for the transfer of Radamel Falcao to the Rojiblancos. The Colombian striker, top scorer in last season's Europa League with 17 goals, will sign a contract for five years with our club."

OFFICIAL: La Liga Strike This Weekend Confirmed

The Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) has confirmed there will be no La Liga matches this weekend after failing to reach an agreement with the Spanish Football League (LFP) over a players' strike.

Week 1 of the Primera and Segunda Divisions will be postponed after the two bodies failed to reach an agreement following meetings on Wednesday and Friday. The players will not play until a collective bargaining agreement has been signed between the AFE and the individual clubs. La Liga may not start until September after the AFE pledged to boycott the first 2 weeks.

UEFA Opens Disciplinary Proceedings Against Arsene Wenger

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Arsene Wenger for not following the terms of his touchline ban during Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Udinese in the Champions League first leg game on Tuesday. Wenger was seen making phone calls to his backroom team to pass on messages and instructions to his players during the match, something which UEFA says infringes the ruling.

 
Agent: Forlan Will Not Hold Talks With Inter Until They Sell Eto'o

Diego Forlan's agent has stated there have been no negotiations between himself and Inter, and he will not contact the Italian club until Samuel Eto'o's future is decided.

“As of Saturday, I have still not spoken to anyone from Inter,” he told fcinternews.it.

“I assume the Nerazzurri could make a step forward once they have sold Eto’o. I have learned with certainty that the Eto’o affair is at the moment frozen. If they don’t close that deal, then it’s very unlikely they’ll talk to Forlan," he revealed.

 
Report: Nasri To Stay At Arsenal After Talks With Manchester City Collapse

French TV station Canal+ is reporting talks have broken down, and Nasri will see out the final year of his contract with Arsenal. The Frenchman had been strongly linked with a $22 million move to Manchester City before the end of the summer transfer window, but surprisingly started Saturday's Premier League game against Liverpool.
