After Inter scored all 4 of their goals in the first half, Gareth Bale scored 3 goals in the second half for Tottenham (2 of which came in the 90th and 91st minute). Inter took a total of 23 shots compared to Tottenham's 8. Tottenham's Gomes (the goalkeeper) was given a straight red in the 8th minute for a bad challenge on Biabiany, leaving Tottenham a man down for the remainder of the match.

Milito was out due to an injury. Van der Vaart was given a red card in Tottenham's last Champions League game, rendering him unavailable to play against Inter.
