Ryan Giggs Signs 1 Year Contract Extension With Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Ryan Giggs has extended his Manchester United career by 1 more year. The United boss said the decision to extend Giggs' contract had already been made and hailed the star’s fitness as being the reason behind his longevity.

He told MUTV: "I spoke to Ryan a few days ago. He is happy to have another year and that is good news. You can see his fitness. It is incredible. He could do another year, who knows, another two years, because his fitness is so good. "

 
Kenny Dalglish Confirms Ryan Babel Is Staying At Liverpool

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has confirmed that winger Ryan Babel will not be leaving the club this January after a proposed move to German side Hoffenheim fell through.

The move to Germany looked done after Liverpool accepted a bid of around $6 million for the Dutchman and even went as far as having a medical, but it seems the deal collapsed on personal terms between the player and Hoffenheim.

Dalglish would not speculate on how long Babel would be at the club, saying: "He's staying here."

Luis Suarez To Liverpool Falls Through

A Liverpool delegation traveled to Amsterdam on Monday morning to discuss the possible transfer of the Uruguayan attacker, but Ajax weren't impressed with Liverpool's offer and Damien Comolli and the other Liverpool representatives returned to England barely two hours after their arrival. Liverpool seemed reluctant to offer more than $20 million to lure Suarez away from Ajax while the Dutch side were holding out for a fee in the region of $30 million.

Barcelona Confirm Defender Carles Puyol Suffering From Tendonitis In Left Knee

Initial reports have identified Puyol to be suffering from tendonitis in his left knee. Puyol may be out of action for up to 2 weeks if the pain continues.

Barcelona say the Spaniard will be monitored closely over the coming days and a decision will be made closer to kick-off as to whether Puyol will be risked in the first leg of their Copa del Rey clash against Almeria on Wednesday evening.

Official: AC Milan Sign Urby Emanuelson From Ajax

Urby Emanuelson has signed a 3.5 year contract with AC Milan, bringing to an end his 6 year career at Ajax. No transfer fee has been officially announced but it is thought that Emanuelson changed hands for a modest sum, given that his Ajax contract was to expire in 6 months.
