Puyol Out 3 Months After Successful Knee Surgery

“Puyol has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to remove a floating piece of gristle from the femoral trochlea,” reads a statement on Barcelona’s official website. “The surgery was carried out by Dr. Cugat and his team, and Dr. Pruna. He’ll be out for two or three months. In principle, he’ll leave the hospital this Thursday and in about two or three months he’ll be able to play again."

 
Report: Real Madrid Set To Sign Benfica's Fabio Coentrao For $19 Million

Spanish newspaper Marca is reporting los Blancos are on the verge of signing Fabio Coentrao from Benfica for a fee in the region of €22 million ($19.2 million).

Madrid and Benfica have been locked in discussions for several days and a deal seemed unlikely. However, both clubs now look to have finally reached an agreement over the price for the player.

The 23-year-old has yet to agree to personal terms with Madrid, but the left-back has repeatedly stated that he wants to play for Real Madrid.

 
Bayern Munich Confirms Miroslav Klose's Departure

German powerhouse Bayern Munich has confirmed on their official website that veteran attacker Miroslav Klose will leave the club this summer.

The German has an expiring contract with Bayern and has made the decision not to accept Bayern's renewal offer.

"Unfortunately, our talks with Miroslav Klose have not produced a positive result. We’d have been happy for him to extend his stay, but when it came to the length of a new contract, we were unable to agree on a mutually acceptable period,” commented club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Barcelona has offered 20-year-old midfielder Thiago Alcantara plus $50 million to Arsenal for Cesc Fabregas, according to the Mirror.

Thiago has found it difficult competing with the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta for first team opportunities and manager Pep Guardiola is now willing to let him leave if he can persuade Fabregas to come back to the Camp Nou.
