David Villa To Undergo Surgery On Broken Leg On Saturday

Spanish newspaper AS is reporting David Villa will fly to Spain in order to undergo surgery on the broken leg he suffered in the Club World Cup semifinal against Al-Sadd.

"Hello everyone! Thanks for your encouragement! This injury is a blow, but I am convinced that I will recover as soon as possible, thinking about playing [the Champions League] final in Munich and the Euros," Villa announced on his Facebook page.

"I will work hard for it. They tell me that tomorrow I'll be in Spain!"

Villa is expected to be sidelined for 5 months.

Nilmar Nearing Move To Roma

The agent of Villarreal forward Nilmar has claimed that his client is on the verge of signing with Roma. Roma reportedly had a $22 million bid for the Brazilian rejected over the summer but the player’s representative, Orlando da Hora, claimed last month that talks were ongoing and he has now revealed that an agreement is close to being reached.

"I can only say we're going strong and I think I can close a deal with Roma," the agent is quoted as saying by Super Deporte.

 
Sergio Ramos Pulls Hamstring; Out Indefinitely

Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has revealed defender Sergio Ramos pulled a hamstring in the win over Sevilla on Saturday. Ramos underwent a number of tests on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury and a scan has revealed that the Spaniard has suffered a pulled hamstring. It's not yet known how long Ramos will be out of action, but he is certain to miss Tuesday's Copa del Rey match at home against Ponferradina.

Luiz Suarez Suspended 8 Games By English FA

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been suspended for 8 games and fined $62,000 after being found guilty of racially insulting Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.

Evra, who is black, said Suarez racially insulted him during United's Premier League match at Liverpool on Oct.15. Evra told French TV station Canal Plus after the match that "there are cameras, you can see him (Suarez) say a certain word to me at least 10 times."

Suarez, who denied the charges, said on Twitter: "Today is a very difficult and painful day for both me and my family."

The suspension is pending appeal, which Suarez has 14 days to file.
