Exhibition Stock Car Racing

[Hooked on Huskers]

You remember exhibition stock car racing with the same setups, same cars, same tires and various drivers experiences like Indy, NASCAR, Sprints, CART and F1 racers? 15 or 20 years ago or so. Two or three events and then for some reason, discontinued......lack of interest perhaps? I even faintly remember the winners ...... Nigel Mansell and Mario Andretti (I think). I tried to Google it but no results. Dream and real?

The only thing I can think of is IROC, but that was certainly for more than just a few years.

Are you thinking of the IROC series (International Race of Champions)? They closed up shop about 6 years ago.

Ebyl & ZRod, similar IROC rules but much different era. Only 6 years ago? No ..........

At least 15 years ago. Also simply exhibitions and no sponsor cars, only different paint colors.

**edit**. Ebyl & ZRod, probably so after all. I thought only 2 or 3 years before folding. My mistake (as usual), IROC years from 1974 thru 2006. However, Mario Andretti won in 1979.
