Eyes Glance Ahead to Oct. 8th

The "hype is why we lost the Texas game" hype is overrated. Dropped passes is why we lost the Texas game.
Oh boy, that's for sure. I lost count how many passes we dropped in that game. Eight? Nine? Ten?

See ya later, Ted. Don't call us. We'll call you.

Dropped passes and turnovers which means there was a lack of concentration out there on the field. Lack of concentration is usually caused by bad coaching or hype.
There was little to no hype for the SDSU game, the Holiday Bowl, the ISU game, ect, same lack of focus. I think the common denominator is the former.

I know this probably seems like a unique perspective, but the reason for the lackluster performances of the first three years of the Pelini era is pretty obvious. The defense has over achieved, while the offense has limped along with an overly complex system, a lack of any real superstars and plenty of QB and injury issues. Don't score. Won't win. Until that changes, hype the game or don't, we will be in trouble either way.

Well, look at it this way, we only have to beat them once to win the big10 title.

I guess that is probably the case with whoever we would play in the inaugural big10 title game, assuming we got there, unless Indiana, Purdue, or Illinois decides to get a piece of the action.

Just curious.

Do the games Tressel sits out still count on his all time record?

I wouldn't think so, but since it was mentioned about his continued involvement (other than gameday) it got me wonderin'.

Same thing occured to me with Michigan State's coach last season.

The dude in that 'Red out around the World' video dressed as Herbie Husker looks exactly like Ron White. I knew there was a similarity to us fans, bravo. Plus we have Larry.

Red outs...

Is the red out (which many of us wear anyway) mostly related to the fact that the team wears red to all home games? And if so, should we therefore wear white to away games? This gets so confusing.

And speaking of colors, this new conference's color coordination just isn't going to work. Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio State all have colors schemes similar enough to ours. How the hell do we tell if our fans from theirs?!?! 1/3 of the damn conference has red/white as their colors!

Is there some unwritten rule regarding reverse color coordination of fans for opposing teams with very similar uniform colors?

I think that OSU will be in quite the quandry in regards to who they are going to start at the suspended positions for this game. You figure that the guys who start in the place of Pryor, etc. will have a pretty good rythm going after five games and inserting the suspended guys in, especially for such a big game could mess up the chemistry. If they wait a week, they could reinsert the starters for the Illinois game, then have a week off to assess how things worked before having to play Wisky. Then again, if the backups' play is merely pedestrian, maybe the choice to play the former starters is a no-brainer. Just seems like it might not be wise to mess up the chemistry for such a big game.

True, but they prolly won't be as banged up as us at that point with injuries and all.

Also, it is very possible that the ncaa will weigh in by then with stiffer penalties.
