Thanks. I guess on the bright side, all the peeing problems side tracked me from focusing on the pain associated with the biopsy procedure….which now sort of hurts again since it is relatively the worst symptom I have.Sorry to hear you're going through that, JJ.
This may be TMI but the biopsy procedure involved an ultrasound wand in the rectum (much larger than the ole finger in the bum we’ve all experienced) They rotate it to measure the prostate, inject some lidocaine (which you feel, very similar to a novocaine shot at the dentist) then they go through the rectum wall internally and clip 12 chunks, 6 on each side, off the prostate. It would “snap” each time and felt sort of like a needle prick each time. Not pleasant at all is an understatement. Extreme ridiculous discomfort more than straight pain, if that makes sense.
Oddly that procedure seemed like a slight relief though because my GP told me they would go through the taint with a needle and that it is very painful. Apparently she isn’t aware of the latest advances at the Urology clinic. So, relatively speaking, I was somewhat relieved they would be doing it internally. I still can’t imagine sticking a needle through the taint. Yuck.
