NEW YORK--Country singer Faith Hill has been tabbed by NBC to sing the opening theme during the Sunday Night Football intro this year, replacing Pink as the singer that football fans will mute before watching the big game. Hill said she was “honored” to appear in the over-produced spectacle, despite the fact that everybody in America hates it.
“This is a huge honor for me,” Hill said. “I just can’t thank NBC enough for giving me this opportunity! Are you ready for some football, America? I said, are you ready for some football? Wait a minute. That’s the wrong song. That’s that Hank Williams thing. Mine is called I Can't Wait For Football Night in America or something. Whatever. The important thing is it's a huge paycheck for recording a song that nobody's even going to hear.”
