Fightin' Erstads at the Corvallis Regional

Surprised didn't have Schleppenbach bunt to advance runners. Would've scored if he had
Yeah when commentators on ESPN 3 are pointing out bad tactics, that's not good.
It's almost like the team, from top to bottom, quit. :-|
i thought this about the team last year after their poor performance in the regional and was thinking they would do the same this year after their early exit from the Big 10 tournament. I can see how this can happen considering school's out, some of them have the draft to think about, and the younger ones have summer teams to get to. not really much keeping them around.
What I don't understand is how do these other teams stay focused? Nebraska isn't the only ones that are out of school and might have some players drafted.
i know. maybe has to do with the team leadership. i don't think it's on Erstad. he is as "intense" that they come come (LOL). the players themselves have to have that desire and the last 2 years in both Big 10 tournaments and regional play indicate to me that they don't have it. very disheartening if close to being accurate.

How does this team go to thumping on Penn State 21-3 to go 1-4 after that?

Coaching? Preparation? Lack of talent/focus?

There is something in how Erstad gets teams prepared for these important games that is wrong. A post season record of his does not come around by chance. Whatever they are doing to prepare needs to re-examined.

Holy Cross excited like they all just got scholarships. They pumped.

Two straight innings we ran ourselves out of outs.

I think that he needs to reevaluate his whole coaching staff, game preparations and hit the recruiting trail harder.
Its embarrassing to see teams like Yale, Holy Cross, and even Penn State beat us and other teams like Indiana, Iowa and Maryland being successful in these tournaments and regionals

I think you guys are being too hard on the team.

I mean .... Holy Cross was 23-28 on the year coming in so.....

Experienced head coaches, probably. Erstad should not have been promoted immediately. Maybe he'll learn some day, but we probably could have hired an actual, experienced coach, let Erstad hang around in some capacity (volunteer outfielders coach, or something) and maybe let him take over down the line somewhere if the head coach pulled a Van Horn

Interesting tidbit just saw on the interwebs... Since 2005 the teams to beat the Huskers in regionals are Oral Roberts, Western Carolina, Manhattan, San Francisco, UC Riverside and Yale.

Miller single

Alvarado flyout

Schleppenbach walk, Miller to 2nd

Reese to pitch to Holy Cross

Wilkening strikeout

Roskam singles, bases loaded

Hagge single, runners all advance. Miller scores ! 7-4 Holy Cross

Meyers fly out.

Huskers score 2 but leave bases loaded.

7-4 Holy Cross

Home run, good for him, On radio they mentioned that Edison Volquez, former Royal, good friend of Yordano Ventura, today would have been his birthdady. Volquez has a no hitter so far in Miami, one inning to go.
