The only saving grace is that Illinois was a team that did decently last year in the post season.

And the Big Ten will likely get Purdue and either Nebraska or Illinois. If Nebraska and Illinois rip up the rest of the Big Ten, then perhaps there's an outside (20%) shot at three.

Big Ten tournament? Or NCAA? If you want to make the NCAAs you basically need to win the conference since these teams are not good.
