First ever game at Nebraska

Walk-on
My buddy and I are going to attend our first game ever at Nebraska when Michigan comes to town. We are retired high school football coaches from Texas and travel each year to one random game. What are some must haves while we are in town? Traditions? Tailgating? Bars? Eats? The night before?
Let me here your suggestions.

Just kidding. Plenty to do around the stadium. Haymarket area has a lot of bars and restaurants within walking distance to the stadium. It will be very busy pregame. Tailgating all around the stadium in various parking lots and designated areas. The band puts on a pretty cool pre game outside the stadium if you are in to that. Decent chance there will be a pregame broadcast of some sort for that game if neither team loses a game early so that can create some extra buzz. I'm sure others will offer more info.

You will end up with posters that give you horrible advice, like visit the Zoo and hit up Morrill Hall or check out the Capital building.

Do none of those things.

O street is where the old college bars are at...Railyard is where the new bars are at.

I would try to book a hotel downtown if you are able so you can enjoy the full weekend with Husker and Michigan fans. I definitely recommend trying a variety of places in the Haymarket and Railyard district....there is so much to choose from. The stadium is downtown too so it all runs together. I would arrive to the game early to see all the school traditions and take in the pre-game and tunnel walk. Hopefully it will be a night game so you can see the 4th quarter hype show too.

As long as you are not wearing Texas or Iowa gear, walk the tailgates and enjoy that atmosphere.. positive you will be invited in for a beverage and a snack.. ;) night before id suggest a bar/restaurant in Haymarket or down O street near the stadium.. open invitation to join/visit our tailgate.. i can hit ya with info if interested...
