Nebraska freshman outside hitter Mikaela Foecke picked up Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honors on Monday following her weekend performance at the Ameritas Players Challenge.
Foecke led the Huskers to a 3-0 record by totaling 37 kills with just four errors on 60 attacks for a weekend hitting percentage of .550. The West Point, Iowa native led NU with 4.11 kills per set and earned tournament MVP honors.
Foecke set a career high with 13 kills against South Florida on Saturday morning. She followed with 12 kills and four blocks against Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon. In those two matches combined, she had 25 kills and one error and a hitting percentage of .600. She also added five blocks on the weekend.
