For the star-watchers out there...

Five-Star Recruit
I was bored, as usual, and decided to start looking around the Big 12 commits on Rivals. One thing that struck me was Oklahoma's recruiting class. Now yes, they are certainly having an easier time recruiting and have more 4 star players, but take a look at there class. They have a SIGNIFICANT portion of their current class that are ranked at 3* (68.4% to be exact). Here's how our current classes compare percentage-wise by Rivals ratings...

Oklahoma 19 total commits

http://oklahoma.rivals.com/commitlist.asp

5* - 0%

4* - 32.6% (6 out of 19)

3* - 68.4% (13 out of 19)

2* - 0%

Nebraska 16 total commits

http://nebraska.rivals.com/commitlist.asp

5* - 0%

4* - 12.5% (2 out of 16)

3* - 75% (12 out of 16)

2* - 12.5% (2 out of 16)

Now, am I suggesting that we have as good of a recruiting class as Oklahoma? Not at all. I've seen people on here and other boards, though, that say that Bo is focusing too much on the "diamond in the rough" 3* player. But, when you look at Oklahoma (a potential BCS Championship contender), they seem to be darn heavy in 3* recruits as well.

Just something to think about.

But, there's is one thing about these Big 12 qbs. They might not have been the highest rated guys coming out, BUT, they came from high school teams who run the spread. So, when they get into college, they're pretty much running the same offense they did in high school. It makes for a much easier transition.

I wouldn't be surprised to find that, statistically, far more 3 star kids turn out to be "sucesses" than 4. But of course there is a larger sampling.
