Assistant Coach
Bo was fairly hands-off (or at least he said so) in 2008, but became increasingly involved in the offense afterwards. 2010 was (hopefully) the height of that, where it seems he felt really strongly about our prospects of success with Taylor, even knowing the costs (of changing and pairing down the offense, and living with freshman mistakes). But it was more than that, the staff last year was a fairly grab bag assembly and the offense was just being pulled in all different directions. The coordinator, who in my opinion was both a capable coordinator and a great QBs coach, tried adjusting to that spread option shotgun attack the head coach wanted to run. Watson's gambit of marrying that spread option game to West coast principles - for whatever reasons - didn't end up with great results (though you could argue that if Taylor never got hurt, we would never be having this conversation). And Bo's gambit of starting a freshman QB, with a West Coast roots offense running the spread option, with a power running (slash clueless) OL coach that we still have, didn't work too well either.I'm confused...I thought Bo was the one that was forcing the spread option system event though it was obvious, we didn't have the players yet to fit the system he wanted?LINCOLN — Mark Mangino doesn't know Nebraska's offensive personnel. But he does know Tim Beck.
And one of Beck's strengths, Mangino says, is working with what he has. The Huskers' new offensive coordinator won't force a system on his team that doesn't fit the talent he has.

EZ-E said he's really excited about how this offensive staff appears to be on the same page. Proven or unproven or whatever, that should be really encouraging news, if true.
