“Foregone Conclusion” Tanner Lee Will Enter 2018 NFL Draft

Lee is 18 TDs and 13 INTs this season and 41 and 34 for his career. I looked through some of the past NFL drafted QBs and didn't find a TD to INT ratio as low as Lee's over the last 4 years. Nearly all are 2:1 or better.

The idea of entering the NFL Draft is really more of Lee’s dad’s idea than Tanner’s. Tanner’s dad thinks Tanner has first round talent, he’s just been in bad situations his entire career.  Me. Lee has heard all those scouts at the Manning Camp and other NFL guys say how great Tanner was. When Tanner transferred to NU, they tried to petition the NCAA for Tanner to be eligible right away. The NCAA responded with granting Tanner a 6th year of eligibility. Tanner does look good in shorts and a T-shirt. But, he is pretty much a statue who has trouble reading defenses. That’s not wanted by many college coaches anymore, let alone NFL coaches.

I think you are sorely underestimating the lack of qbs available in the NFL, and the ego of NFL coaches.  Someone will be sure they can get him going. He will get drafted.

Every team needs a qb and there are only about 8 really good ones on the planet, but everyone thinks they can find the next one. You will hear "his line was so bad at NU  the wideouts didn't help him out" blah blah blah, and he will get drafted.
Not to mention he has the advantage of having run a pro style system.  These guys running the spread are behind the 8 ball.

I must be missing the part where the NFL is clamoring for slow, inaccurate guys with no pocket presence.

Of course, Lee may be thinking....

I can see Tanner doing well in the NFL, once he gets behind a decent offensive line..  Actually, I'd love to see it happen, more confirmation that this year's O-Line (i.e. CAV) is dreadful.

Defensive lines are a lot better in the NFL.  It's sort of a wash.  Either he's good under pressure or he's not.  Either he's good at reading defenses or he's not.

It's been a pleasure to watch Tanner this year. Best of luck if he does move on, which, if there's a coaching change, might be best. Excited to see what POB/Gebbia might bring.

His pocket awareness and feel is badly lacking and he holds the ball too long. He does throw a nice ball but I think those first two are too much to overcome to play in the NFL.

Aside from the joke earlier in this thread about the Cleveland Browns drafting Tanner Lee... :D

I seriously cannot fathom any team wasting a draft pick on him.

That’s why Lee looks great at 7 on 7 drills and Manning Passing camps. If he doesn’t have to worry about the pass rush or difficult coverages, he can stand tall and rocket the ball all over the field. Get him in a real game and he’s very average.
