Fox Sports 1 ad features a heavy dose of Nebraska

When a UNL spokesman says that neither school is interested, and there's no dispute from the minny officials, I don't think just the UNL AD killed it. Keep in mind it showed up on our twitter with Riley after we won it. Iirc it never showed up on Minnesota's twitter, just the mascot and some fans'

well part of that would be that they haven't won it in a while.

My understanding from informed people is that pushback on the chair initially came from Minnesota and we stood down.

In 2015 UNL was allowing fans to get their picture with the Chair at the Fan Experience Pavilion. I doubt we went from actively displaying it to being the sole party to kill it over one off season  (although I acknowledge stranger things have happened).
And that's certainly possible too, although stuff I've read in other plays suggest it was the opposite, and that UNL brass didn't want to keep around a trophy that was tied to a fired coach.

IDK. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

All I know, is that out all of our "rivalry" trophies, this is the best one, because it was born organically. Not created in a corporate think tank.

Nope. UNL AD killed it, even after Riley embraced it.

There's a grassroots campaign to get it back. Sounds like some fraternities are taking it upon themselves to make it a thing, just like how the MU/NU victory bell started.
Maybe we can check with Minnesota Husker since he lives up here too.  But I will tell you that not one Gophers fan that I know gives a damn about that trophy.  A lot of them don't even remember it being a thing.

Maybe it falls under the same category as Iowa being a rival.

Just because it's the "best" trophy we have played for in the B1G doesn't mean that it needs to be continued.

It's pretty popular on social media, and opposing fans loved it on reddit.

It was growing, and people liked it? But instead of letting it grow organically over time in popularity, they killed it.

Maybe we can get a new trophy that's sponsored by Hy-Vee.
You act like these are the only 2 ways of having something to play for.  It's ignorant.  It IS possible to not have a sponsored trophy and it's also possible to have a respectable trophy that happens over time.

Husker fans desperation to have an "organic" trophy to play for is clouding their judgement at how profoundly stupid this trophy is.

Counterpoint: It's a fun and unique thing that was created and embraced by fans of the sport. Your opinion that it is "stupid" is a minority.

The $5 trophy seems like it fits right in with a bronze pig and bucket.

I did. You said it was only popular amongst husker fans. I provided links. And there's plenty more to find.
That's not proof that my opinion is the minority.

How about this.  PJ Fleck wasn't asked at his press conferences about the trophy.

Minnesota's largest newspapers haven't written articles about it's whereabouts

The Gopherhole doesn't have arguments going on about it

I know people within the Minnesota athletic department that have never brought it up in conversation with me when talking football

A few Reddit links doesn't prove anything

So because Minnesota plays Iowa and Michigan for stupid trophies, Nebraska should too?  Solid argument.  smh

1. How many other trophies was Fleck asked about?

2. Ok? This was born from the internet.

3. Eh? First google search is a poll where they want it to be a thing. http://www.forums.gopherhole.com/boards/showthread.php?64478-Would-you-like-to-see-the-5-Bits-of-Broken-Chair-Trophy-become-official

4. Anecdote, but ok.
