Fox Sports: Stewart Mandel's Post Spring Top 25

Saunders

Heisman Trophy Winner
#23 Nebraska

The Huskers’ offense should be in capable hands with Tulane transfer QB Tanner Lee. He’ll have some nice targets to throw to in Stanley Morgan Jr. and De’Mornay Pierson-El, but the Huskers’ offensive line remains a concern. New coordinator Bob Diaco was so secretive about his 3-4 defense that the Huskers didn’t show it in the spring game. CBs Lamar Jackson and Chris Jones could become stout bookends.

Opponents on the list include #2 Ohio State, #4 Penn State and #13 Wisconsin.

NO IOWA!?!?!?!? HOW ABSURD!

Wow, PSU at #4, it is amazing how 1 good year can change perceptions. I want to see if they can do it again before I annoint them as back and the next juggernaut football power.

I think we are in a great position to pull a PSU this season. Don't see us going undefeated but a 10-2 or even 11-1 regular season and CC appearance (and win depending on who we face) isn't out of the question imo. This will take most things if not everything going right for us but I really do think the potential is there

I agree with this. It wasn't like PSU came out of the blocks smoking everyone. They lost to Pitt in a close one and then got killed by Michigan something like 55-14. They beat OSU in a close game 17-14 that OSU played terrible in and then things just fell into place.

They got hot at the right time and played great down the stretch. Something we seem to never do and it would be great if we could this season. I think a season like that would do wonders for our recruiting and our 2018 squad that should be a better team, but will have a tougher schedule.

I agree with the posters above that say we will go 10-2 this year. Out of those two losses I say we drop one at Oregon in a dogfight and we lose to OSU at home after a big win against Wisconsin. I am really looking forward to this year and am excited to see the progress of the improved offense. It will also be intriguing to see how the new defense looks.

I really want to believe we will be a 10+ win team, but the last decade has been all hype and then huge let downs...I guess if I keep my expectations low than anything above a 7 win season is a bonus :-)

Was listening to The Audible on the way home (Fox Sports podcast by Stewart Mandel and Bruce Feldman), and Feldman thinks NU will win the division, and really likes Tanner Lee.

Winning the division is going to be tough this year. Wisconsin's cross division games are Michigan and Maryland while we have tOSU and PSU. Not a lot of room for error there especially if Michigan can't replace their senior class.

I suggest you take it a step further and set your expectations at 1 win - that way you can sit back for the second game knowing we are there!!!!

- or leave it at 7 and we should be there by the 7th or 8th game

Penn St is overrated .... ala 2015/16 Iowa. How about Michigan (#16)? Other doubts; Mildcats, Wazzo and S.Florida

Oh, I believe all experts left out in "Way Too Early" Top25 rankings (Huskers) except Mandel.
