Fresno players talk about playing Nebraska

What is he supposed to say? "Yeah, I think, no, I know we are going to get killed. My O-line sucks! I'm going to get hit probably like 30 times and its going to hurt really bad...have a band-aid ready for me, will ya?" How will you be able to hear in Memorial Stadium? "We won't, it's too loud." Will you be able to run the ball? "We suck at running the ball. Our O-line sucks, remember I told you that earlier. We won't be able to pass bc Im gonna get hit and I don't like getting hit hard and we can't run the ball bc Nebraska has the greatest defense in the world!"

Give me a break people, it was a confident interview, not cocky. He was giving praise to his teammates saying he has all the confidence in the world in them. What's wrong with that? We would love it if one of our players gave an interview like this when everyone was expecting us to lose. Just like the RB said, why even show up if we don't think we can win.

And he was right about Memorial Stadium, it isn't that loud.

Very much this. I think we're all homer enough to want everyone to fear our team, but this is just how these guys are. If you'd have interviewed Tennessee at Chattanooga ten days ago, they would have said the same thing. I've been reading the comments in this thread thinking, "What are they talking about?" Nothing here is locker-room material. It's just players talking about a game.

Ya know, by my count, Derek Carr said "ya know" 41 times in that, ya know, interview. But, ya know, I could have miscounted, ya know, 'cause he like stuttered a couple of times and I might have counted those, like, twice, ya know?

The poor kid. He needs to spend more time here at Huskerboard so he can learn that especially for qbs, interviews are critically important and easily the #1 vital requirement for great play on Saturdays.

THIS

The poster who wrote this may be a little loco, psychotic, and probably wears womens underwear at night :dunno , but the guy is completely right. But that is how I'd want my QB to be heading into a big game.
Dude, Im dying laughing right now. I think I woke everyone in the house up! :LOLtartar

And just to clarify my post, we as Husker fans know what will happen on Sat. but you can't expect the opponent to bow down to us.

My question to those of you accusing Carr of being too cocky: have you watched/read Jamal Turner's interviews? If you have, I hope you were very critical of him for being 'too cocky' because there is no way Carr's comments were any 'worse' than Jamal's. When it's a Husker player it's swagger, when it's an opponent it's bulletin board material? I smell a double standard...

Did you watch the interview? Carr was at ease and very well spoken. Said the right things and was smooth in his answers.

Obviously it doesn't help him be a better QB to be well spoken or not. But this is a bad example. Want a good example, maybe try Vince Young or Cam Newton.

I didn't watch the interviews, but if these guys are being "cocky", what do you expect? I would never expect someone to come out and be just a complete pushover, saying things like "we're going to get our @$$es beat" or "Nebraska is better than us in most areas of the game, so it's an obvious loss."

Duh, of course he's supposed to say that....

He was put into situations where he had to make some lofty comments. But if he honestly thinks all the more complicated our defensive scheme gets is "line up and come at you" he is in for a huge surprise.

If the truth makes you chuckle I guess it works. :thumbs

Anyhow, in the name of all that is Shawn Watson we all need a good laugh and enjoy life. And for me that is cracking the lame joke and enjoying my best friend. No, not my wife, my new big boy of BEAM!!!!!!!!!!! :cheers

I'm pretty sure all of us are the ones who are truely surprised as he and that offense shreaded our defenses to pieces.

He doesn't have a clue what he's about to get into. "I've been hit before". Not like this you haven't.
I'd like this statement stricken from the record. Carr and his offensive line showed a lot more heart than our defensive line last night.
