I just found out about this and I'm sick. Bill was a friend, a church leader and a good man. Father, husband and Husker. Gone too soon.

Don't have much else to say about that.

Lincoln man, former Husker, dies in South Dakota motorcycle crash

A Lincoln man and former starter for the Nebraska Cornhuskers died Thursday in a motorcycle crash in South Dakota.

Bill Ziegelbein, 44, was killed. His passenger and wife, 43-year-old Colleen Ziegelbein, suffered life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from the South Dakota Highway Patrol, but was in fair condition by Saturday morning.

The two were northbound in a Triumph Rocket motorcycle on U.S. 83 north of White River, S.D., when the bike left the road on a curve, entered the ditch, struck a post and rolled, the release said. Both were thrown from the motorcycle.

That's just terrible. An awful tragedy. Prayers that the wife recovers, and for the family.

I knew him in college. Not well. More friend of a friend. It's tragic that his family & friends have lost him so young. I'll keep them in my prayers.

Remember him well. I went to the the same high school, the Polk Cubs back then. So shocking and sad. He was a great person and Husker. Prayers to the Ziegelbein family.
