The length is fine.  If he succeeds, he'll coach here til he retires in about 30 years.  If he leaves, somebody will be buying him out and it will be a nice refund.  If he fails, well, the program is toast anyway so, as Hillary would simply say, "what difference does it make?"

Give him two years, then extend him by 2 years. That way he's on a revolving 7 year deal
