Assessing the talent: Wants to play Free Safety in college. As far as 40 times go, he was clocked at a combine with 4.7, so a little slow. But he’s got the frame to pack on some more pounds. All around great athlete. Rivals reports already this season he has two punt returns for touchdowns, six interceptions and leads his team in all-purpose yards.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 15% It’s a five team race for Harris’s services. His official visit to the Huskers is his fifth of five. LSU has the lead, reagrdless of a coaching change. A Husker commit looks bleak.

This sounds like a kid that may come in as a safety, find he's a step or two too slow for it, and grow into a great outside 'backer.

I would love to see us go back to where we recruited big strong safeties and used them as linebackers. We would get so much more speed on the field that way. We may not be the most physical team but we would be fast enough to make up for that.

Nic Harris enjoyed his visit to Lincoln this past weekend. Didnt elaborate a whole lot on the weekend, but said he enjoyed the whole trip, and even was recognized all around town, which he liked. The only complaint he had was the cold weather.

He was also very impressed with the academic side of things at NU, and I can tell why. Every time I hear this kid speak, or read quotes from him, the one thing that stands out to me is how well spoken he is, and thoughtful with his comments. Very calculated and analytical. I really like this kid for a number of reasons. He now plans to sit down and weigh the pros and cons from all of his visits, but it sounds like its down to Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Michigan, LSU, and NU. We should have as good of a chance as any - he seems cognizant of NU's tradition which he is impressed by, and the fact that Nebraska is 100+ students ahead of the 2nd place school for total number of Academic All-Americans - so this seems to be very important to him - and you never know could be the deciding factor.

Welcome aboard bigredtoad. And from what I hear, the toad is actually correct. I remember one of the main reasons Nic even considered NU was b/c of Turner Gill, so I imagine his departure could have had some effect on NU not making the cut.
