Ray Gallegos is happy he redshirted last season.
He just wishes he would’ve done so earlier in his career.
“When Doc was here, he mentioned it my freshman year, and then again my sophomore year,” Gallegos said, referring to former Nebraska basketball coach Doc Sadler.
“I don’t know. When I talked to him (last year), I told him I kind of made a mistake by not doing it my freshman year when I should’ve.”
After playing two years, Gallegos finally decided he needed a year off to become stronger. He was tired of getting pushed around in practice and not being able to get over screens.
So he sat out what would’ve been his true junior season.
