Is there any proof that Rhaegar kidnapped/rape Lyanna, other than what we hear from the Starks/Baratheons? It seems to me that, other than the kidnapping/rape, we only ever hear good things about Rhaegar, so I've always wondered if that's the true story. Yes. That's what I'm saying. But the "good guys" version which is actually stated in the books was that it was kidnapping. I was just wondering if the books/show ever indicated that the good guys were wrong. Other than talking about how honorable that particular Targaryen actually was in every other way.

Ned was fighting what was left of Rhaegar Targaryen's kings guard. Rhaegar instructed them to protect his new love interest(possible wife), Lyanna Stark, and their unborn child. Robert Baratheon was killing anything Targaryen to extinguish the line and secure his place as the new king. That's why Rhaegar's other family were all killed (including his 1 year old son, Aegon). Now Ned and Robert were best friends growing up. The kings guard that were at the Tower of Joy don't know what Ned's intentions are when he gets there. All of the information they have is that Targaryen's are being killed and as a kings guard. It is their job to protect all of the royal family, which includes Jon Targaryen.

Pretty sure that HBO has already began talks. There are two story lines they could go with. Robert's Rebellion which they already have license to do from the original deal with George RR Martin. The other is Dunk and Egg. That one would have to be licensed and I'm assuming GRRM would charge a premium knowing how successful the first deal was for HBO. Kind of like your second contract with NFL being your payday contract.

Is it just me or are the Sparrows worse than Cersei and her ilk? At least Cersei doesn't pretend to be good. I think they deserved what they got. The others though, not so much.

Yeah, I thought the Sparrows were a bit of a tedious storyline. I suppose it's good that things are finally moving now. GOT is nothing if not tedious, though.

I remember watching season 1 and thinking, "Oh, OK, Dany is going to go to Westeros soon, now that her origin story is just about wrapped up."

It might finally happen in one of these next two seasons...maybe.

That's been my biggest, big criticism of the show since the beginning, too, but Season 6's pace was pretty stellar.
