Games vs. Texas

Lubach hits the pitch on the hit and run, the runner is out on second, the ball takes a huge bounce of the netting after its overthrown and gets tagged out getting back to first. Two outs, Peters gets a single.

At least there were some tangible things to improve on. Texas was the better team, but not by a very wide margin. Just gotta keep their heads straight.

we are what we are... they played well but we don't have the pitching to contend with a top 40 ball club and the way we hit this weekend one can wonder if we can compete with a top 60 ball club.

0 - 7, not at all acceptable even with the schedule.

Got to keep getting better even if it's little by little. It's all about pitching. Got to get more pitching.

This. How many times did we see Nebraska have a lead in the late innings, but some gaffe started off a torrent of errors, runs, and eventually what lead we had evaporated. We're already seeing it this year, the USC game, two of the three Texass games...games where either we had the lead and blew it, or we were in it but just appeared to give up.

If Coach Erstad can't get his hands around the mental issues surrounding this club, it's going to make for a *long* season, pitching prowess and clutch hitting be damned.

I suppose, though, we should expect things to get worse before they get better. Andersen did us no favors, and it may take another year or more for Erstad to undo the damage.
