Gangwish suspended?

Oh wah. He can cry me a river. Don't take selfies with dead ot soon to be dead animals. You're either an idiot or a cruel idiot. Either way, he deserves something and Riley is too new to it all to do anything so nothing to see here imo.
Are you serious?
Yeah I am. Is there something wrong with that? I'm no animal conservationist but either one of two things occurred; he either tried to kill the racoon so he could take a picture with it and got bit in the process. Or, he tried to take a picture with a life racoon and got bit and decided to kill the racoon. Again either way it's a dumb dumb move. And one is f'd up cause it's his fault he got bit for messing with a wild animal.
well, I can guarantee you Gangwish has killed hundreds of coons that WERENT trying to bite him, FOR FUN.
Is coon hunting not legal in a city? What the hell difference does it make. A harmless picture transpiring into self defense? And he has to be suspended for it? Because of pressure from a garbage organization like PETA? Cmon. What the hell is wrong with this country and political correctness?
Not saying I disagree with you but hunting a raccoon with a rifle and bashing one to death with a wrench are kind of different.
it tried to bite him.
theyre a nuisance animal. Theyre declared so. it's why you can hunt them without a liscense. Same as a cyote.

He was bitten. Needed tested for rabies. That dagnabit thing was gonna be beheaded and the head sent in for testing anyway. That's the whole lack of common sense in all this.

f#*k PETA.

In ending, serious question. What's the new punishment when you hit a coon on the road with your car? What's the new law? I'm dead serious.
The animal wouldn't have bit him if he didn't mess with it... there is a difference between hunting and animal cruelty.

Is killing a raccoon a big deal? I guess not.

Is acting like a dumbass and making headlines the wrong way on a day where the school you represent has hired a new leader and trying to turn the page away from an era that begat more bad headlines like yours than good a big deal, worthy enough of disciplinary action?

I'm leaning towards yes.
+1

The hate for Eichorst on this board is unbelievable. If this happened at another institution would people be upset with the AD, or the actions of the student athlete? The kid killed an animal with a wrench and then posted to social media. At least he did not call the raccoon a pu**y or a cu*t. What people will defend as appropriate behavior these days, geez... He represents the Nebraska football program. Is this how we want our team represented?

Isn't is like 16 shots in the stomach?
His train of thought of testing the animal is accurate.

If you don't test, you absolutely HAVE to get rabies treatment. It is 100% fatal without treatment.

It is crazy expensive. like $7,000 expensive to receive treatment.

In other words, the dude is an idiot. Period. He did, however, save himself thousands of dollars...

Yeah, I don't think many of us are a fan of PETA, but they can be effective in accomplishing their goals: causing disruptions and damaging public image of their targets.

Jack Gangwish and nobody else put his team and his university in that position. For his own amusement.

I'm sure he's a good guy. But hopefully that is the latest time a Husker player seeks out and provokes an animal because he thinks it'd be funny. If another one does, it kinda forces the school to do something to send the message of "we don't condone this."

I don't think Gangwish was being an idiot, he's just a kid that grew up in the country and is used to wild animals being all around. Yeah, it wasn't that smart to try and take a picture with the raccoon, but the overreaction after he killed the raccoon is crazy. Bad move, SE.
As someone who did grow up in the country, I can tell you that raccoons are not to be Texas with.

To say the least, what Jack did wasn't too bright. That said, it sucks that PETA had such a freak-out over the issue. If some sort of ultimatum between suspending him or facing possible sanctions for not doing so (I don't see how PETA could lobby for that, but I'm sure they could threaten to do so at the very least) was brought up, I don't think Eichorst had much of a choice. Crappy situation for sure, but one that should have never happened in the first place.

Its a pu&&y move.
I agree, bludgeoning an animal he didn't want to taxidermy, eat, and wasn't being a direct detriment to his livelihood then hiding behind be "'Merica! Huntin'!" card, and posting it on a public site the very day your new coach is arriving in Lincoln is pretty ridiculous.
