Giving up the Smokes! AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Today is 3 weeks! :clap I'm still using the patch but the urge to want a smoke through out the day is getting weaker. I just have to keep plug'n away, I still find myself in certain situations that really make me crave one.
Thanks for ask'n!
Have you tried the gum? It actually helped me quit dipping. It tastes like sh#t (which it's supposed to do), but it takes that edge off when you really need some nicotine. Anyways..damn find job Dizzturbed. Best of luck to ya!

Good for you!!!

I chew the gum now and it's not bad (flavor wise). You tend to get used to it. Tried the patches too but ran out of places to put the patch

Wife and I are actually supposed to be quitting this week. This oughta be fun...NOT!

Good Job!!!

I bought a bunch of patches on ebay once, but pretty much quit before they arrived.

Although there were a couple of times I tried to roll one up and smoke it..(they wouldn't stay lit).

:laughpound

use a blow torch it'll stay lit with much of your face. :)

Hang in there Dizz home stretch

I quit dipping, and honestly, It was cake.

It's all about will power. Just remember, no one is holding a gun to your head saying 'Stop at that gas station... go buy some...'

My buddy told me that after a few weeks, he woke up, and was able to 'finally take that big fresh breath of air' that he hadn't felt in years.

Can anyone else attest to this? He said once that happened, there was no way he could smoke again because it felt amazing.
How long did you chew? I've had a hell of a time. I always quit for like a month.

I chewed Copenhagen for 15 years. I swallowed the juice and never spit ( no BJ jokes <_< )I got the FULL effect of the tobacco. I quit cold turkey. I went and bought the shredded beef jerkey that comes in a round can like chew. Everytime I got the urge for a chew I'd just put in some of that jerky and it acted like a placebo. After 2 weeks I was done. 95% of quitting is between the ears, you have to really want to quit.

Congrats man. You just gotta keep your goals in mind, and quitting will be much easier. Think about the potential heartache you could cause loved ones and the potential pain you could go through yourself. You should also think about all the time you'll be adding on to your life with a healthier, smoke-free lifestyle.

My dad was a two-pack a day smoker. He really wanted to date my mom, and after working through every other excuse she could come up with, she finally told him she had two little kids at home and she wasn't going to date a guy who smokes. Dad took the pack out of his shirt pocket, crumpled it up, and never smoked again.

They were married a year later. :thumbs

If you want it bad enough, you can do it. Don't give up, anyone who's trying to quit. It's the best thing you can do for yourself.

It's been almost 4 months since I made this post, I'm still smoke free. I'm not gonna lie though, it still sucks from time to time. I still miss having one with my morning coffee and yesterday my son's doctor found swelling and lumps in his lymph nodes around his arm pit area. I'd like to say that I have never found anything I have been scared of............That scares the crap out of me and makes me really want to smoke. (keep telling myself that I'm not gonna do it though) They take blood work tomorrow and hopefully find that it's nothing.

For anybody that is thinking about quitting, I wish you the best of luck. You will find out how strong you really are, but in the end you will feel so much better.

Glad to hear it dizzturbed. Wife and I keep talking of quitting and in all reality, we need to for health reasons. Just haven't grabbed the cajones enough to actually want to quit.
