Nebraska Offense - 5.59 rating(2.9 stars)

Michigan State Offense - 5.66 rating (3.0 stars)

In fact, if one controls for the walkons, of which NU is starting 2 versus 1 on offense, NU's average among scholarship players is actually higher in terms of "star power" and an identical in terms of rating numbers (5.7 for each).

I'll have to run the defensive numbers when I have more time.

(and suffice to say, imagine my surprise when I discovered Purdue is actually as or more talented than MSU based on this methodology)

I think I will rhyme all my posts now.

I'm trying to stay optimistic.

My faith in this staff is not shaken, although,

These losses have been quite sadistic.

Some look at the challenge this weekend,

And brace for a beating from Cook.

I'll lower my guard once again for these men,

And hope against hope for that "click".

The strength of Nebraska is fandom.

With loyalty, effort, and pride.

I'll trade the latter for former right now-

As we hit a few bumps on this ride.

On paper, it's a prime upset candidate. Home dog whose not as bad as their record vs road favorite that is neither as good as their record nor road tested. Add in the fact the favorite is another bad big ten offense and it's prime upset fodder.

However, to date Nebraska, in an attempt to make me look stupid every week, finds a way to allow teams with no offense to generate some. Still, despite weeks of being wrong, I'd still like to think one of these days a bad big ten offense can be treated as such.

They played in Ann Arbor so I'm not sure why you're saying they're not "road tested." I know we're trying to stay positive on this thread, though, so I'll share some of what gives me hope for the home team.

On paper, or looking at statistical performances in games against FBS teams this season to date, I see the passing offenses as roughly equal. Their defensive numbers against the pass are roughly average - they've allowed an above average number of completions (155 relative to a national average of 140.42). They haven't run the ball all that well - they've just got an above average number of rushing TD's is all (17 relative to a national average of 12) and average stats otherwise in the rushing offense category. Nebraska's stats in the total offense category are better than theirs - yards per play and yards per game are at 6.07 and 446.2 for Nebraska compared to 5.81 and 413.8 for MSU. Averages for those stats are 5.6 and 401.8 nationally.
