Golf - Mullen, NE

RockyMountainOySker

All-Conference
I was just invited to attend a golf outing in Mullen, NE between September 21-23. We are playing Dismal River which is home to 36-holes in a Scottish links style designed by Jack Nichlaus. I've been told it might be better than Sandhills....

Just wanted to know if any of you have played the course or know the area.

Dismal River - over 7800 yds from the tips....yikes!

I am still trying to decide if I am going to make the trip or not....I am hesitant because I am taking Thursday and Friday off the week before to go to Seattle for the Skers game and then would have to take half of Tuesday and all of Wednesday and Thursday off the following week. The reason I'm thinking about doing it is that I just learned my position in my company is being eliminated on November 1.

Any thoughts?

I haven't played it, but I hear great things. I have heard a lot of people say it is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity and if you get the chance to go, you should. But of course, just like this board, these are all opinions. I'd say go for it chuckleshuffle

youre getting elimated? and youre worried about taking too much time off?

screw 'em.
Completely agree with this....only problem is I have a great relationship with my boss and he is pulling a few strings to help me out moving forward (one being telling me now and not waiting to hear on November 1). I'm a little worried about hurting this relationship but I will be open and candid with him regarding the trip.

Be honest and up front with him. Not too mention, if you have any saved vacation time, you may lose it though I believe legally they have to pay you for it. Otherwise, I agree with mmmtodd. Make the trip and enjoy yourself :thumbs
