It would be one thing if you are talking about the BEST of the B12 playing mid majors teams. But Colorado is the #6 team in the B12 and Iowa St. is the #7 team in the conference. What team did the #7 team in the B10 play in their bowl?

If I am not mistaken, Iowa State won by 7, not 4. And were the underdog going into the game.

Texas Tech was the #4 team from the B12 and beat the #4 team in the country.....handily.

When OU beats USC it will be clear (painfully to some) that once again the B12 is the best conference in football.

Maybe you don't know who or where UTEP is but their coach has taken a team to the Rose Bowl in the last 5 years and my guess is UTEP is going to be good for long time.

A little more B12/B10 history for ya. Nebraska is 10-1 against the B10 since 1985 with an average margin of victory of 36.5 points.....But don't feel bad, the NU has a grand total of one loss against the SEC in 26 years.

It doesnt matter what number team in the conference whoever was ranked.

The fact is the Big12 gets a weak bowl schedule because it is weak. College football schedules the bowls accordingly.

Every Big 10 team faced a team from a major conference. 3 of them being the SEC, with two victories. No one got blowed out. This is a major down year in the bigten.

Is 4-2 in the minor leagues really something you want to hang your hat on? I can also see why you are pointing out past records for NU. You guys didnt do very well against an already weak big1little11 this year. TTech hung 70 on you. Did Missou whup you on national TV? I also see you are really hitting the big time with Rhode Island or New Hampshire or some such...I-AA. wow. PSU has Central florida, but at least they are 1A. My, how the mighty have fallen.

 
Both conferences look pretty close to me - the only difference being the Big 10 has more above average teams, but the Big 12 has a couple exceptional teams and a couple of really bad ones.

Sort of like two sine waves 180 degrees out of phase (or sine - cosine, if you will).

Although, the B12 and the B10 have beaten each other head to head, the B12 holds the biggest upset of the bowl season in TTU over Cal.

And, don't forget he B12 still has one minor bowl to play in...for a National Championship. But, that's insignificant, of course.

Oh, and Benji? Two things...

1. You forgot PSU's stunning victory over Akron

2. It's *blown* out, not *blowed*...unless you're speaking in the past-tense about PSU's season, of course

I can't believe you try to dismiss TTech by saying they hung 70 on NU. Their win over Cal was BY FAR the most impressive win of the bowl season. They absolutely dominated a BCS caliber team.

But since you feel the need to discuss NU's season, why don't we dwell on the fact that PSU scored all of 7 points against Boston College? OR how about the 3 points they "hung" on Wisconsin? maybe the 7 points they "pasted" Minnesota with? No, I got it the 13 points they destroyed Purdue with? wait, what about the 4 points against Iowa? Does that count as a shutout when the defense scores all your points? I love the offensive juggernaut that IS the 10 points they scored on OSU or the 7 points they scored against Northwestern..........Northwestern???? Are you kidding me? 7 points against Northwestern? Is that a misprint?

NU scored more points in two separate games than PSU scored in 7 games COMBINED.

Check this out. Wisconsin was one of the top teams in B10 this year, they got DRUBBED by Michigan State. The same MSU team that gave up 37 point to quite possibly the worst offensive team in the country.....you guessed it, PSU.

If PSU were in any other conference they would have been 2-9 with their highly impressive wins over Akron and Central Florida.....lol, Akron and Central Florida?? I am going to make business cards tonight and pass them out that say Akron and Central Florida......haha, that's some funny stuff. I bet I could go on tour as a comedian and my bit would be Akron and Central Florida. I would make millions. :lol:

 
You might not have been disputing anything...but in a way thats worse.You really have trouble with reading comprehension. The topic of discussion was this years bowls games, and you came back with 'research' from games earlier in the season. How is that relevant to the discussion.

And where did I say Penn State was national champion in 1994? The point of my posts illustrated that you are lucky the NC was handed to you by voters, rather than having to earn it on the field.

Just read what you said. You have a serious memory problem. Reading comprehension? Dude, you come to a husker site, a pro big 12 site, to do nothing but attempt to bash the school, past championships and the conference that the huskers play in and you continually skirt facts to try and make your ridiculously weak points and you call me remedial because you couldn't remember the score to a game and I reminded you. I don't feel the need to try and make you look bad or of lesser intelligence, I think your posts do all the talking for me. I am done with you Benji, I disagree with several people on this board and debate with them, but most of them at least make valid points and don't deny facts and continually retract what they have already said in print.

 
'Blowed out' is colloquialism from the coal region in central PA. My home grown verbs showed through. But thanks for the grammar lesson.

Penn states stunning victory over Akron wasnt a bowl game. Which is what we were talking about.

I did the opposite of dismiss TTech. Actually, I commended them on a great win.

And again, if youll look closer, Im not the one who brought in NU stats to awe myself. It was touchdownTommy who attempted to 'skirt' facts by reciting irrelevant facts to the conversation at hand. This years bowl games. So, I responded, on subject that he turned to, NU stats, and he comes back with, well since you want to talk about NU, lets talk about PSU.' Gosh Tommy, that 'skirt' is certainly whipping around with all that dancin youre doing from topic to topic.

And you got me with the PSU stats....ouch. Like Im not aware they were the worst offensive team ever in the history of football. The 37 points we managed against Mich state was all defense. Most of the points scored against us this year was provided by our offense. If you count ints and fumbles returned for scores, our offense almost could be a little below bad. And if you want to talk about bad, during the Iowa game, we turned the ball over on three consecutive plays...and i think it was the same player each time....maybe you guys and your research can check to see if that is some sort of record.

Some of you guys need to get a spine. Youre all bent out of shape. I wasnt 'bashing' anything. Lighten up a little. Have some fun.

For the record, again.....All I merely said was that NU was lucky they got the title handed to them and didnt have to play PSU.

Man do we need a playoff system so these big12 teams stop getting handed national titles and put in games they cleared arent prepared for.

Well...er...umm....Ok then...

Yes, it's true...OU blowed...or blown...or blew...or however youse PA guys say it (my dad's a PSU grad from Wilkes-Barre...you'd think I could remember the lingo).

A couple of B12 teams lost, and the best of the B12 got creamed.

But, by the same token, two of the top B10 teams got knocked off (UM, Wisc.) and Iowa just escaped - and the two conferences split their meetings in bowls this year. And the B12 still has the biggest upset of the bowls.

I would still call the comparison a push. Then again, it's hard to discern what you're basing your claim on in terms of specific criteria - except that unless it's Big 10, it sucks. :P
