Now it’s an hour into practice, and Parrella has not stopped. He is pacing between two groups of three linemen doing a two-on-one pass rush drill.
“You will earn it! You will earn it! EARN IT!” Parrella says, his voice climbing. And now he walks toward senior Greg McMullen and gets into his grill.
“When you earn it, that will make you tougher than you’ve ever been in YOUR LIFE. And how will that make you feel?”
McMullen says nothing.
“Say NIIIIIIICE!” Parrella barks with a smile before he paces away toward the next drill.
John Parrella has taken charge of his first drills as Husker defensive line coach, dripping with passion, and that would have made the old man beam like the sun shining down on this beautiful early March day.

Gotta say I really like what I read in that article. Feeling pretty good about having him as our DL coach. If it's one thing that past Husker teams had on their opponents it was mental toughness along with the physical conditioning. That's 2 things I guess among other things they had going for them as a result of what they were taught but I'm glad that he's preaching that to his players.

I'm glad we picked up a former Husker who's been there. Good article.

Although he's mostly unproven in the coaching world I think this was a great hire. Love that he's spitting fire on day one. I think his boys are going to love him.

Agree. Hard not to like it 3 days in. He definetly gets " it". Anxious to see how it translates on the field.

What I like about him is that he get instant respect being a former NFL guy and Blackshirt. The previous guy did not see to have much...at least as of late.

Really hope he can turn the DL into a force this year and also bring in some recruits...all he has to do is bring in one and he beat a veteran coach with recruiting!

Also didn't know his dad was murdered......
Nobody really came out and said what happened, but law enforcement stopped looking for a suspect after more investigation.

Interesting article, thank you for sharing. I know they stopped looking and wouldn't rule either way, but I don't get how he could pull the trigger 4 times if it was a suicide.

The whole case sounds strange.

Thanks for the link. My murdered comment was based on my presumption.
