However, Tom easily should have had 3 more championships (82,83,1993) and Frank 1 (1999).Honestly, anything prior to the end of WWII probably shouldn't be counted for any national champion claim. I think aTm proved you can just make crap up, and many of the storied programs' claims are dubious at best. In reality, Yale claims 27 national titles with the last in 1927. There's also plenty of controversy prior to the 90's bowl alliance. Or you can be Auburn who literally just claimed 7 new national titles going into the 2004
We had an absolutely amazing run in the 90's and an incredible winning percentage over that 50 year span. I don't think anyone can dispute that Bama is the greatest program of all time though. Until Saban's run I would have fought you to the death, but he earned it.
