Greatest 50-Year Run In College Football History

Honestly, anything prior to the end of WWII probably shouldn't be counted for any national champion claim. I think aTm proved you can just make crap up, and many of the storied programs' claims are dubious at best. In reality, Yale claims 27 national titles with the last in 1927. There's also plenty of controversy prior to the 90's bowl alliance. Or you can be Auburn who literally just claimed 7 new national titles going up to 2004.

We had an absolutely amazing run in the 90's and an incredible winning percentage over that 50 year span. I don't think anyone can dispute that Bama is the greatest program of all time though. Until Saban's run I would have fought you to the death, but he earned it.

No shame in being 2nd to Bama. However, Tom easily should have had 3 more championships (82,83,1993) and Frank 1 (1999).
 
If you were still playing local YMCA teams and fake colleges...you really don't need to be on this list anymore.

But even with that said, it is pretty remarkable to see what those schools were able to do.

I'm forever thankful that I was so lucky to witness this great era of Husker Football. I was 8 in '62 so I don't remember ALL of it, but most I guess.

I knew the 9 win seasons would most likely end at sometime, and following Osborn would be an almost impossible task, but I never thought we would suffer the bowl drought that we went through.

My rule is if it happened before we had 50 states, it doesn't matter.
