Grey shirt

Just read the Alabama paper's article on the new commit, Rogers. The article mentions that he came to a visit to Lincoln and brought Wald with him. Wald was offered a Grey shirt from NU. Either I've had too many whiskeys or I've never heard of a Grey Shirt. What is it exactly?

I believe it's a walk-on for one year and get a scholly the next year kind of thing

I think its more like you have to pay for one semester but then you get a scholly

Yes, when you greyshirt you pay your own way for one semester and than are given a scholarship.

greyshirts can play or redshirt the year they commit but count towards the following years scholarship limit.
