Scouting Villanova

Under Jay Wright, Villanova has been one of the most consistent programs in the Big East over the last decade. The Wildcats have reached the NCAA Tournament in nine of the past 10 years and have won the Big East regular season conference title in each of the past two years. The Wildcats went 33-3 last year before getting upset by North Carolina State in the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. This year, Villanova is picked to win the Big East and returns a pair of starters in 2015-16. The returnees are highlighted by Big East Co-Player of the Year Ryan Arcidiacono, who averaged 10.1 points and 3.5 assists per game last year. Senior forward Daniel Ochefu gives Villanova an inside presence, as he averaged 9.2 points and 8.5 rebounds a game last year and had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the Wildcats’ opener. Tuesday’s matchup with the Huskers marks the first time Villanova has hosted a Big Ten team since March of 1989.

Villanova leads the all-time series, 2-0, while Tuesday’s meeting is the first between the two teams on the contiguous 48 states. The Wildcats victory in 1987 (70-53) took place at the Maui Classic, while the 1998 win (75-60) took place at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Ala. Nebraska is 32-36 all-time against current Big East members.

catching Nova early without much tape on the new look NU could work in NUs favor. Going to be a tough slog though. Shoot lights out from 3 (worked for another local team a couple years back) and anything can happen. Other than that, Good Luck. I like Nova by 10.

Really have no idea what to expect.

With this many young guys, i dont expect much but if we can shoot the 3 like we did in our last game, there is a chance.

Great test and chance to learn more about these boys.

I am pumped for this game. Finally a game I can watch.

If we beat them this early in the year and on their own court, it starts to build one heck of a lot of excitement for the season.
