Scouting Florida State
Florida State is 3-3 on the season and has won two straight games heading into Mondays matchup. Leonard Hamilton is in his 12th season at Florida State after serving stints at Oklahoma State (1987-90) and Miami (1991-2000) and with the Washington Wizards in the NBA. Hamilton is 5-3 against the Huskers in his coaching career, all during his tenure at Oklahoma State. The Seminoles, who were picked eighth in the ACC in the preseason poll, have traditionally been one of the most consistent ACC programs in recent years, winning at least 22 games in five of the last six seasons.
Florida State has battled injuries early in 2014-15, having lost Devon Booker to a foot injury and Aaron Thomas to an illness. Thomas status is uncertain heading into Mondays matchup, as he has not played in the last two games and was averaging a team-high 14.0 points per game. As a sophomore, he led FSU with 14.5 points per game. Freshman Xavier Rathan-Mayes has become the focal point of the Seminole offense, as he is averaging 13.8 points per game. Over his last three games, he is averaging 21.3 points per game. Florida State is also a very deep team with 10 active players averaging at least 10 minutes per game, while the Seminoles also feature three 7-footers in the rotation.
