Scouting Penn State

Penn State comes into Saturday's game looking to snap a 10-game losing streak, as the Nittany Lions are 8-14 on the season. PSU, under second-year coach Pat Chambers, was dealt with one of the biggest injuries during non-conference play, as senior guard Tim Frazier suffered a season-ending achilles injury in November. Frazier was a first-team All-Big Ten pick by the media, leading Penn State in scoring, rebounding and assists in 2011-12. PSU split its first eight games of the season before closing non-conference play with four straight wins, scoring 70 or more points in all four contests. In Big Ten play, Penn State has struggled offensively like Nebraska, cracking 60 points only three times in 10 Big Ten games, including a high of 72 against Michigan State.

Despite the loss of Frazier, Penn State still features two of the Big Ten's top scoring guards in junior Jermaine Marshall and sophomore D.J. Newbill. Marshall is seventh in the conference in both scoring and steals (1.5 spg), while Newbill, who transferred from Southern Miss, is sixth in the Big Ten in both scoring and assists (4.2 apg).

Huge opportunity to get our 3rd win here. Need to play smart ball.

I actually like when we roll a smaller lineup out there.

Although this years squad really can't take anyone for granted, anything short of a solid "W" here would be extremely disappointing.

With a week to prepare and coming off an inspired effort vs tosu, we have to lock this down.

Not often we get to say this team has a must win game to have a chance to get out of the 12/11 seed in the conference tournament. A win here and picking up two more we could be looking at a 10 or 9 seed and playing someone like Purdue in the first round.

True. Plus with two left with Iowa and a gut feeling about Sparty at home, we could jump start some end of year momentum.........

This may be the worst 10 minute display of basketball I have seen this year. Very very sloppy start to this game
